Passion in German: why in Germany they do not rinse the dishes after washing

It will always be interesting for us to observe the life of people in other countries. And it concerns not only traditions, mentality, rules of conduct, but also everyday habits. Of course, we take note of something and successfully use it in our home, but some things can cause involuntary surprise ...

For example, take at least Germany. For a long time, the Germans used in their kitchens double deck sinks. They also have cleaning rules, which help pedantic Germans keep the house clean and quickly put things in order. But even among these quirks there are others - no less interesting and a little strange.

Germans

Life in Germany

Perhaps no one will describe living in this country in too much detail and with prejudice. However, I still want to dwell on some everyday facts.

The Germans are more than pedantic people, and, of course, everyone knows about it. In addition, the local population is extremely law-abiding:

  • bushes are pruned at a specific time;
  • the number of plants planted near the house will exactly equal the number prescribed in the law;
  • instagram viewer
  • parked incorrectly - a neighbor will call the police;
  • you make noise - again wait for the guards (on the same call from a neighbor).

In general, it seems that there is a little more freedom in Russia. True, here it is already unclear whether this is good or extremely bad.

And the Germans also love to eat... Sausages, meat, sweets, pretzels, baguettes, pretzels, baked pork knuckle, vegetable salads and many other delicacies that make your head spin. But this is where it’s worth stopping, because after the meal is over, it’s time to wash the dishes.

Yes, the Germans, of course, wash the dishes. Moreover, carefully cleaning off fat and food debris - no oddities, everything is very clear and understandable. Although even in technology there is a slight difference - we are used to washing dishes under running water, while the Germans fill a full sink, lower all the utensils there and pour in the detergent. In this way, local residents save water. Even if there are a lot of dishes, they are still washed in one soap solution.

And then comes the fun part... when all the dishes are washed with detergent, they take them out and lay them out next to the sink. All! The dishes are not rinsed, they lie there until the moment when they put them in their places. Sometimes it is wiped with a dry towel. No extra rinse.

When asked whether people are afraid of being poisoned by the remnants of household chemicals that settle on the surface, the Germans they just laugh, arguing that nothing will happen from that amount of soap, and therefore not really dangerous.

And here it is not clear whether the Germans do not attach any importance to this at all, or their dishwashing detergents are so safe that they do not need to be washed off. With us, try to choose the wrong detergent and buy low-quality products, so the pan will smell like a chemical “lemon” or “aloe” for another week. And in Germany, as you can see, they don't even know about such problems.

Here is such a household habit of the Germans, which seems more than strange to us, because we are used to rinsing the dishes abundantly and as thoroughly as possible, and often several times more - just to be sure!
