Many garden areas require a high-quality watering system. Some use hoses connected to the central water supply for this. In order for the watering process to be effective, it is necessary to correctly connect the equipment to the pipe. The actions depend on the material from which the water supply is made.

How to connect a garden hose to a metal pipe

Many country water pipes are made of metal. They have various adapters that do not match the diameter of most hose models. This may cause problems when connecting. In addition, unscrewing the adapters can be quite difficult.

To remove the thread, tap it several times with a hammer. You can also heat the adapter using a gas burner. If the above methods do not help, several cuts are made on the thread with a grinder.

It is recommended to turn off the water before work. Especially if you plan to use an angle grinder. If water gets on the instrument, it may cause an electric shock.

You also need to remove the thread carefully so as not to damage the outlet.

To connect, you will need a detachable fitting suitable for a polypropylene pipe. It would be better if the kit included an adapter for an inch tap thread. The process consists of the following steps:

1. Rewinding. Fum tape is used for this. It is wound in one layer, working clockwise. This will ensure a tight seal.

4. Inserting a fitting into a hose. You can increase the reliability of the connection using a clamp. The main thing is that it matches the diameter. The fitting is then screwed onto the pipe using a gasket.

Connecting an irrigation hose to a polypropylene pipe

The connection is divided into collapsible and non-demountable. If necessary, a tap is installed between the pipe and the watering equipment.

The easiest way is to connect using a clamp, which acts as a lock. You can use a herringbone fitting with threads.

A hose is put on it. A clamp is used for fixation. A combination coupling is suitable for polypropylene pipes.

It must first be soldered to the water supply. The fum tape is wound onto the external thread. The fitting is connected to the coupling. The clamp fits onto the hose. It is better to lubricate the fitting with sealant before installation. The clamp slides onto the fitting and the connection is clamped.

If you plan to create a collapsible fixation, then the combined coupling is replaced with an “American” fitting.
