Opposing magnets must have different poles. You will not confuse anything if you use the marker to mark them with minus or plus signs. To determine the poles, take the magnets and bring them together.

If the surfaces are attracted, put a plus on them, if they repel, then mark them with minuses. When placing the magnets on the discs alternate the poles.
