It is probably no secret to anyone that the fungus that appears on the walls due to high humidity is extremely dangerous for health! And, if you notice a black mold stain in your home, then you need not just to get rid of it, but to attend to the creation of a normal room microclimate. It is for these purposes that the air dryer for the house and apartment serves.

If you do not purchase this device, the scrubbed mold will still return, and quite quickly. But, not only the fungus is a factor undermining health. Let's deal with you in more detail what's what, because the excessive humidity is not a joke.

Why is fungus on the walls so dangerous to health?

instagram viewer

If you see a stain on the wall, it means that there is already too much fungus. And the air is literally teeming with active disputes.

Spores of the fungus are present in almost every room, but under adverse conditions, which means that under normal humidity, they are in a state of hibernation. The norm is 50-60%, but if the pendulum swings to 70%, then the mushrooms begin to move into the active phase and multiply at an incredible speed, while releasing the enzymes that destroy everything in their path.

Not only do they spoil the look of things, they also enter the body with a sigh, destroying the cell's DNA!They weaken the immune system and sores begin to fall on a person, as if from a horn of plenty, and every day the body accumulates toxic waste from their vital activity, and this is a pure poison that can provoke even oncology. Children, old people and people with congenital or acquired respiratory diseases such as:

  • Asthma
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • are especially susceptible. Chronic bronchitis

Therefore, as you understand, removing the stain of mold is only an attempt to hide the consequences. And you need to overcome the root cause, namely, to adjust the healthy humidity. But, you should also understand that not only the fungal infection threatens your well-being. The case is much more global.

What else are the consequences of high humidity?

The most elementary: constant chilly feeling and cold. Even if the temperature on the thermometer shows that in all respects the apartment should be warm, but you are still cold, then most likely it’s about humidity. You can, of course, wear a warm sweater, but what about the bed, which seems to be dry, but at the same time too cold?

But that's not all! The most insidious in high humidity is that it violates the natural metabolism of a person, forcing the organs to work for wear. How? And so here: a normal body should receive 2-3 liters of moisture per day, and remove about 1 liter. But, if a person is constantly in a room with excessive humidity, then he involuntarily absorbs much more, and the body simply cannot bring out so much. Therefore, the remnants of moisture are deposited in the tissues, which complicates the work of the cardiac system, excretory and circulatory!

Here you have an increased risk of heart attacks, kidney diseases, liver and other amenities that shorten life.

Foods that can last for two to three days( the same bread, for example) in a normal environment, deteriorate too quickly in a wet one. Literally over the course of a day, a green raid forms on the bakery product and has to be thrown away, since it is impossible to use a product on which at least one small speck appears: it is already saturated with spores that are simply invisible to the eye. And if you cut the damaged area, nothing will change. Bread will still be with fungi inside.

And, of course, a damp environment can spoil furniture, paintings, wooden floor. .. But, compared to the harm done to health every second, these material losses are nothing.

What devices can measure the level of humidity

It is terrible that high humidity is not particularly felt. If the air is dry, then it becomes difficult to breathe, the skin begins to peel off, the hair breaks, the mucous eyes dry out. But you do not feel moisture for the time being and copy off such effects as chilliness to completely foreign things.

If your home is located near the sea or water, or on the first floor, or the ventilation system is not brought to mind, then you should buy a special device and make sure which microclimate in the house is at the moment. The device is called a hygrometer and has many modifications:

  • Wall-mounted
  • Desktop
  • Mechanical
  • Digital

The prices for them are different. The more modern and accurate the device, the more expensive it is. By and large, the humidity in the apartment does not need to be measured every day, this is not a production room, where the slightest deviation may become critical. Therefore, you can use the old and proven way, for which you only need to have a regular glass and a refrigerator.

Fill the glass with water, without adding 2-3 cm to the top and place it in the refrigerator. After about 5 hours, when the water temperature drops to 5 degrees, pull it out and place it in a place away from heat sources( for example, away from the battery). And now just watch what happens to your glass.

If the air in the room is dry: the edge will first fog up, but within 7-10 minutes it dries out completely.

If the air is excessively humid: condensate forms on the edge and begins to literally drip after the same 7-10 minutes have passed.

But if the climate is normal, then the edge will be just wet, without any large drops, and it will dry no earlier than in 25-30 minutes.

What is the cause of high humidity and how to deal with it

In addition to purchasing a special dryer, you will need to make additional measures to prevent the accumulation of excess moisture. So, what factors lead to excessive humidity in the room?

  • Insufficient ventilation of the room, which may be due to improper installation of plastic windows and roof.
  • Low basement and thin external walls that are not insulated additionally.which is accompanied by a huge vaporization, but at the same time - the windows are closed. Then the moisture gradually begins to accumulate in the walls, which leads over time to the fungus.

It is necessary to fight this, and the first step is to buy a special dehumidifier. But do not forget that the dehumidifier fights only with the consequence, and at the same time pulls electricity. Therefore, you certainly need to try to eliminate the root cause, at least a little.

Naturally, you can not move your house from a wet lowland. But on the other hand, to warm the base, to make a good blind area and a waterproof coat is quite real. Then you don’t need to turn on the dryer too often.

How a dehumidifier works and its principle of operation

He has a very simple principle. The device captures the air that enters the condenser, the temperature of which is lower than in the room. And from this water in a gaseous state turns into condensate and flows into the tank, and the air returns back to the room, passing through the heating radiator. That is, the room also warms up additionally, which is necessary, since a wet room is always cooler than with a normal balance of dryness.

Choosing a dehumidifier: what types are there?

Dryers are industrial, for swimming pools and household. We are not interested in the first two options, since these are huge and very expensive engines and for living quarters we need only a household air dryer, the price of which is quite acceptable and the coverage spectrum of the cubic capacity is not very large. During the day, such a device is capable of removing 12 -25 liters of excess moisture, and this, you see, is a rather impressive figure.

But they differ in their characteristics and designs, so before you decide to buy, you need to find out for sure. Moreover, if the increased moisture is an eternal companion of your home, and you cannot reduce it by any means, then you will have to buy two types of dehumidifiers.

Suppose the best option is a condensation dryer that works on the principle of air conditioning. As already described above, it absorbs moist air and gives out dry. But the trouble is that they can not be used at low temperatures! And this means that in countries with a harsh climate and long winters, this option is a seasonal thing.

Used in the summer and in the offseason, and for the winter you will need to use another dryer - sorbent type. The air entering it passes through a special compound that retains this moisture, that is, it is a kind of desiccant. But, sorbents need to be changed regularly, because they are unprofitable for year-round use.

There is another type of dehumidifier that works on the principle of air exchange, and otherwise - assimilation. They take the humid air straight into the street, and are constantly being pushed fresh inside. But this is a very expensive pleasure, since such a device must work constantly. For an apartment this is not a good option, because it is too expensive in terms of energy consumption.

What to look for when buying an

Noise level : the lower it is, the more comfortable you will feel. Remember that the optimal range is 40-50 decibels. If it is more, it will begin to affect the nervous system with the belt. That is, one you treat, and another cripple. It is better to overpay a little at once, but to buy a model that is safe in this regard.

Power : the more powerful the device, the faster it will dry the area. And even though it consumes more energy, in the end, all the same, there will be more savings, since it copes with its task much faster than low-power models. And the service life of these dryers more.

air exchange range: it is specified in the instrument parameters. But in order to understand what is optimal for you, you will need to calculate the volume of the room. To do this, multiply the area of the room by the height of the ceilings. And based on this figure, look at the technical specifications. The number of air exchange levels should be more than 3-4 times the volume of the room. No more need, because it is fraught with the fact that you dry the air. Do not take less either, since there will be no special meaning in it.
