Homemade champagne helps quench your thirst on a hot summer day, great for a festive meal or for a gift to a friend. All that is needed except the leaves is sugar and boiled water.

How to make wine from grape leaves at home?

First you need to prepare the leaves. Most of all for such procedures suitable leaves of the noble grape varieties. Each leaf must be checked for the presence of diseases.

Next, you need to take twelve liters of boiled water. At this capacity you need two kilograms of grape leaves. It turns out the mass of a large volume, so it is best for the procedure to take a 20 liter pan.


After scalding the leaves with boiling water, they are left together with the liquid for 3 days to infuse. The pot is placed in a dark room and covered with a towel.

After a specified period of time, the leaves are taken out of the liquid and discarded. The brine is filtered and sugar is added to it. The calculation is as follows: for one liter of liquid you need 1 cup of sugar. The solution, which turned out, is stirred, poured into bottles. Above the container, be sure to make an air lock. You can wear a rubber glove on the neck of the dish. This will be enough so that the air does not go inside. Now the drink is fermented.

Grape leaf wine must be infused for 27 days. If after five days the fermentation process was not detected, it means you need to add another 3-5 tablespoons of dry-type yeast.

The beverage should be sealed in glass bottles. If such a container was not found in the house, then ordinary plastic containers are quite suitable.

Corked bottles should be horizontal. The contents in the container, over time, will begin to become brighter and more carbonated. After 3-4 months, champagne will get a pleasant taste.

After 12 months of storage, the drink will get a real taste of champagne with light notes of apples. Of course, there is no such flavor in the shop champagne, but this is a minor minus.
