3 rules for extending the life of roof tiles

The modern construction market offers a lot of options for roofing materials for every taste and budget. Despite the fact that among them there are quite worthy specimens, natural tile remains one of the most popular, although it requires large investments.

/

Homeowners prefer it for its ability to withstand loads of up to 250 kg, ease of repair with necessary and, of course, attractive appearance, which cannot be achieved when using other materials. It has a lot of advantages, but in order for them to be fully realized, and the tile itself lasts as long as possible, you need to follow three simple rules:

  1. Those who say that natural tiles are so reliable, durable and unpretentious are wrong that they can be mounted and forgotten about it for a couple of decades. In fact, for the normal functioning of the roof, it is necessary to inspect it 1-2 times a year for the season. Small cracks, small accumulations of dirt and moss are easier to clean when they are discovered in a timely manner. Particular attention should be paid to the hooks for stepladders, the state of the solution in the areas of grease seams and abutments. To prevent the skull from breaking and cracking underfoot, it is recommended to wear shoes with soft rubber soles.

  1. Due to technical features, metal sheets are located under the tile. They often accumulate dry leaves, small debris and simply dust. If you do not clean them in time, then the damage to the tiles will not keep you waiting. For this purpose, it is better to contact professionals. However, if it is not difficult to get to the roof, you can do it yourself using a stream of water from a hose under good pressure. Typically, the procedure is performed every 4 years.
/

Snow also needs to be removed on time so that ice does not appear. To do this, use soft brooms. If you still find a small layer of ice, you should not scrap it.

/
  1. In preparation for minor repairs on the replacement of damaged fragments, it is necessary to lay a reserve of tiles in case if during the movement along the roof a part of the roof crack. Therefore, repairs should always be combined with a thorough inspection and laying of new tiles as necessary, putting off the next repair for “later” is fraught with even greater expenses.
/

Although natural tiles are extremely durable, they require timely care and repair, otherwise the declared strength up to 100 years can be reduced to only two dozen.
