OSB (OSB) plates - an excellent solution for creating false walls, partitions and cladding. You can use them both indoors and outdoors. However, OSB boards do not differ in attractive appearance, therefore they need to be further processed, for example, painted. You can refuse to paint in utility rooms, in other places decoration is almost mandatory.
Painting OSB boards has a functional value. An additional moisture protective layer is created on the surface of the material. Water will not be able to soak into the plate, and therefore, it will not cause deformation of the material. Walling with decorative panels is more expensive than OSB with subsequent painting. But it should be borne in mind that with the external placement of OSB plates, one painting will not work, as more serious treatment will be required there, since environmental influences can be devastating for this material.
Organosoluble pigments are best suited for painting OSB boards, since the boards are bonded with polymers and resins. Under certain conditions, only certain paints are absorbed within the structure of the material.
Oil-based paints may also be a good option. They dry longer, but the coating is high-quality and durable. For a long time, the quality of the slab can help maintain specialized alkyd paints and enamels. You can also use acrylic water-dispersible compositions, however, they contain liquid, and therefore, with an excess of paint, the plate may swell. Construction and decorative mortar for processing OSB must be carefully selected. It is advisable to choose one of these options so as not to make a serious mistake.
The composition of acrylic paints, as mentioned above, may include water. If the composition is applied in moderation, the moisture will gradually dry out, only a protective layer will remain on the surface. From the advantages of acrylic paints, we can distinguish affordable cost, a large selection of colors, ease of application, resistance to moisture and temperature, fire. Such processing will last more than ten years. Acrylic paints do not have a strong odor.
Alkyd paints consist of oils, acids and resins. They form a thin protective layer after complete drying. Plate protection is good enough. The paint layer is durable, alkyd materials are relatively inexpensive. They do not emit toxic fumes, dry quickly, tolerate low temperatures and exposure to sunlight. But at the same time, alkyd enamels are considered a fire hazardous material. In addition, they are usually used only for external work, as they have a sharp unpleasant odor.
