Upholstery classification
All materials of this type are conventionally divided into nine classes (from zero to eighth). The lowest price, strength and density are the fabrics of the first groups. Further, all these indicators increase. The eighth group, for example, includes genuine leather, which is rightly recognized as one of the most durable and strong. In addition, genuine leather upholstery is one of the most expensive. The intermediate groups include most materials.
Upholstery fabrics by the type of raw material are divided into three groups. The fibers for their creation can be natural, artificial or mixed. Also in the classification take into account manufacturing technology. Upholstery can be made with woven or nonwoven materials. In the first case, we are talking about weaving threads, and in the second - about all other methods of joining.

In the kitchen you can buy a sofa upholstered not absorbing fat, moisture and dirt, easily cleaned with a cloth.
Upholstery of any furniture should be:
- Soft;
- Smooth;
- Durable
- Hydrophobic;
- Color fast;
- Resists wear.
Main types of upholstery
A classic version for upholstery is a tapestry. This is an elegant heavy fabric, decorated with ornaments and patterns, having a complex interweaving of threads. The cotton content in it is usually quite large (up to eighty percent). The tapestry perfectly tolerates dry cleaning, well resists wear. Mild detergents for cleaning heavily soiled surfaces can also be used occasionally.
Jacquard is another classic upholstery material that has been used in the furniture industry for more than two hundred years. Such a fabric is made from natural and artificial yarns, by their complex weaving. Tapestry, this material resembles, but it is somewhat cheaper. Strength and resistance to damage in jacquard is higher. It looks coated with such material exquisitely and stylishly. There are usually no problems in caring for her; it is very easy to clean the material.
A novelty is the thermal seal. This is a thermal dyed jacquard. Thanks to this coloring, the fabric retains its bright color for a long time. The dye is fixed firmly and deeply on the fibers. The material is wear-resistant and very durable.
Scotchguard is the most modern variety of jacquards. This fabric uses special synthetic impregnations that create a sheath around the fibers. Thanks to this treatment, the fabric becomes resistant to moisture, dust and dirt. Even an intense load will not harm the products studded with tape.
Velors are also used in the furniture industry. They create a rich and elegant surface. Outwardly, this fabric resembles velvet. It can have a different composition, but at the same time, villi are formed, which are formed during a special interweaving of threads. This is a cozy and inexpensive fabric that retains heat well. But at the same time, villi are overwritten with time, velor is easily damaged by the claws of domestic animals. You can clean the fabric from dirt with a detergent by making an aqueous solution, but it is better to constantly look at the surface of furniture with such upholstery using dry cleaning.
Flock looks like velor, but they make it using a different technology. On the basis of using a spray, villi made of nylon are fixed. The result is a material that resists moisture and sunlight, pollution. This durable upholstery material is very popular today.
Chenille - fleecy upholstery. It can be mixed or synthetic. The fibers are woven into the filaments of the original fibers. Thanks to this, a durable, pleasant to the touch and soft fabric is obtained. Chenill tolerates dry cleaning well. A wet solution can periodically clean heavily soiled areas.
Thick interwoven threads create a tight matting. The color of this fabric is usually not very bright and plain. Caring for upholstered furniture is easy. It is resistant to abrasion, does not stretch and does not crease.
On the surface of a dense boucle there are subtle nodules. The fabric created from multi-colored threads looks very original. In addition, it has an affordable cost. Cat's claws and other sharp objects can quickly damage such tissue, so pet owners are advised to consider other options.
