What difficulties you need to know before choosing a mosaic

Mosaic of small tiles used to be especially popular among the nobility, who wanted to decorate their estates in a special way. Cathedrals and palaces were decorated with various drawings and patterns of enormous proportions. Today, anyone can afford such a finishing method. The high strength of the material allows for masonry not only indoors, but also on the facade.

Before you find out what difficulties a mosaic tile has in itself, consider how it differs from each other. All presented types of mosaics differ among themselves in two indicators: by material and by the method of application.

Thanks to iridescent shine, glass has the greatest popularity among all available types. Its high heat resistance and moisture tolerance allows you to use the mosaic in almost any room.

Stone has a higher cost compared to glass. This is due to the fact that for the production of such mosaics, expensive types of stones are used: onyx, marble, granite and others.

Ceramics inherited all the properties of traditional tiles. Its only difference is size.

A mosaic of stone-glass material, as the name implies, combines glass and stone. It looks great, but it does not have the most affordable price.

Application

Wall mosaic is often used for laying a kitchen apron, floor, shower or pool. The scope of use dictates the properties that the material should possess. Naturally, for the floor, the mosaic must be durable, and for wet rooms to have a water-repellent property.

Speaking of difficulties, it should be noted the complexity of the laying of mosaic tiles. The surface for it should be perfectly flat. The place under the mosaic should be carefully leveled and cleaned. If the tile will cover the floor, then its surface must be treated with reinforcing material. The presence of irregularities will lead to the fact that some of its elements will stand out from the overall picture, emphasizing the defect.

During operation, do not press the tile with your hands. This can lead to uneven depth of landing.

A few tips:

• Before laying out the mosaic, you need to expand all its elements and make sure that there is no discrepancy in tones;
• In order for the tiles not to darken, you should use white fine-glue to fix them;
• Given these features, tiled mosaics will perfectly decorate any interior, giving it originality and beauty.
