If you place a simple glass at such a small distance from the thread - it will begin to melt, but quartz increases its resistance to high temperatures. In addition, the gas in the halogen and in the incandescent lamp is very different. Specialists combine this substance with tungsten vapor, due to which gaseous halogen vapor is formed. When combined with tungsten vapors, they help extend the life of the thread, as completely evaporate, and do not settle on its surface.
Also, this gas mixture is necessary to lower the temperature of the filament; when using halogen, the filament gives off heat to space one and a half times less than during the use of argon or nitrogen. This saves the cost of electric current for its maintenance and payment of electricity bills.
