The dynamics of the construction materials industry every year offers consumers a wide selection of products. The desire to save, but at the same time use environmentally friendly building materials, such types of cellular concrete as gas silicate, foam concrete block, foam concrete and their other types have become widely known. Before considering the adhesive bases used to work with blocks, we determine the reason for their popularity.
Gas silicate is perhaps one of the best analogues of traditional brick. Only one block is able to fill the space of 18 bricks. In addition to everything, the mass of gas silicate is much less. Thanks to the convenient size and geometric shape, the blocks were able to significantly push the competition.
A feature of working with the material is the use of specialized adhesives. This factor largely affects the level of heat loss in housing under construction.
In order to connect gas silicate blocks, cement-sand mortar cannot be used as a bonded substance. This is due to the fact that the formed seam will have too large a width of 15-20 mm, and its poor thermal insulation property will not allow to maintain the temperature inside the room.
In the case of gas silicate, a decrease in the layer of cement-sand mortar is not allowed, since the blocks are able to absorb moisture from the adhesive mixture. The inevitable result in this case will be a significant decline in the strength of the entire masonry.
Specialized adhesive allows you to keep the width of the formed seam within 2 mm, which is impossible in the case of cement-sand composition. This positive property is not exclusive.
Glue for gas silicate contains specialized additives that can significantly increase its thermal insulation property.
If you use non-specialized glue as the connected substance, then most likely it will not be devoid of such disadvantages as:
- "Bridges of cold" - the formation of interlayers is meant, which will contribute to an increase in the level of heat loss and a decrease in the homogeneity of the masonry.
- Low resistance to aggressive atmospheric conditions.
- Fragility - in comparison with specialized material ordinary glue has a significantly lower strength potential.
Gas silicate block is a modern and effective material used for the construction of buildings of any type, but requiring the use of specialized adhesive mixtures for masonry. The use of ordinary adhesives and sand-cement mortar can minimize the positive qualities of gas silicate.
