How to lay a tile under a door frame without a threshold

When decorating a bathroom and a bathroom, some apartment owners decide not to set a threshold and immediately lay tiles under the door frame. So, in the course of work, many questions arise: “How to dock the tiles correctly in this place?”, “How to arrange the joint relative to the doorway?” And others.

When you need to make the transition from the tiled floor from the corridor to the bathroom, you can enter the corridor tiles into the doorway by about 1.5-2 cm. Care must be taken to ensure that the seam runs directly under the door frame. To do this, you need to understand in which direction the future door will open, and what is its width (usually 3-4 cm).

It is necessary to draw the width of the door with a pencil on the opening, determine the middle, this will be the level of the tile docking seam. Another such mark must be placed on the opposite wall of the opening and connect their line. It is clear that laying tiles in the corridor, it is impossible to calculate in advance where its edge should be relative to the doorway, so the excess tile needs to be cut. Such an accurate calculation of the location of the door and the joint is necessary so that when the door is closed, only the tile in the corridor is visible, also from the bathroom side with the door closed the floor will be visible only to the bathroom rooms.

Thus, it turns out that the door due to its width will cover the docking seam itself and the small edges of the tiles. In this case, the layout of the tiles must begin with the most visible wall, which will not be closed by a washing machine, no bath or sink, because it is in this area that it is important that the view is flat masonry. Thus, the first tile is applied evenly to the wall, and irregularities can be detected. In such cases, it is necessary to note the place where the deflection is obtained, according to the marks, perform a cut with a grinder. In this case, in most cases, chips can form chips. In principle, they can subsequently be masked, but it is best to go to the place of cut with a grinding disk of the "turtle" type. Then you need to create a beacon line. To do this, attach the first tile, departing from the wall 5 or 7 mm, if the tiles have not yet been laid on the walls, mark the edge of the tile, attach it to the far end of the floor, also mark and connect the dots line. The first lighthouse row will be laid out along it, with respect to which a further layout will already go.

Before laying, be sure to apply a primer and wait for it to dry completely.
