When the repair begins at home, apartment or office, the customer is faced with a huge variety of types of surface finishes, among which he needs to make the right choice.
The ceiling is no exception. There are many options for its decoration, so that in any style of interior and functional purpose of the room, it looks harmonious.
However, it is far from always that the room in which the repair is planned can boast a high level of ceiling. Often, especially in an old housing estate, the height from floor to ceiling does not exceed two and a half meters. And in this case, it is important to know that there are several options that are categorically not suitable for decoration, but simply disfigure the room.
- Layered plasterboard ceilings. And although the peak of their popularity has gone down in history along with the “European-style repair” of the 90s, sometimes a design decision requires the installation of such a ceiling. It should be borne in mind that even 2 levels will lower the level by at least 40 centimeters, and this is critically a lot for low space. Much less often, but sometimes found, stretch multi-level ceilings. Their installation should be abandoned for the same reason as from structures made of drywall. Instead, if the straight ceiling seems boring, it’s best to mount a ceiling cornice of at least 20 centimeters wide and paint it in the color of the ceiling. This technique visually raises the space.
- Bright or dark color of the ceiling. Such a color scheme will literally strangle the space. Sometimes a dark color is good, but not when the ceiling is low. The same applies to a ceiling made in several colors. Designers advise giving up brightness and multicolor in favor of muted pastel shades, and ideally, the ceiling should be made white.
- Classic suspended ceiling system Armstrong. The standard solution for most office spaces, which also consumes a lot of space in the ceiling space. To avoid this, it is better to use the so-called economy profile for the installation of suspension systems, and a large part of communications, such as electrics, ventilation or cables of low-voltage systems, to be placed in walls or lower the ceiling.
Thus, even a space unsuccessful in terms of volume can be easily made beautiful and functional without reducing its height. It is enough to choose the type of finish correctly and correctly implement it.
