How to make an apartment repair in the English style

If a person decided to make repairs in his house or apartment in the English style, then we can immediately say that he does not have the largest housing. It is the size of the premises that primarily characterizes the interior in the English style. But this does not mean that this room will be simple, albeit cozy. Not at all. The English interior is one of the varieties of the classical style, but with some features.

One of the features of this style is the presence of oriental motifs, which remind us that England owned a large number of colonies, from where it drew ideas for its own culture. Also, some details taken from the ancient era find their place in it, so everything that a guest of such a house or apartment sees will look majestic and aristocratic.

But it is worth noting that this style is also distinguished by its high cost. All materials used have a high cost, which is justified by the result. The use of expensive wood and stylish wallpaper allows you to create an attractive image full of warm comfort, and a stone fireplace will only complement this idyll.

Despite the rather large investments, you can save a little by doing all the work yourself.

Ceiling decoration

In order to complete the ceiling in the English style, you need to inspect the room where you need to perform work. There are two varieties that are most often used for this finish: smooth and with highlighted beams. With the option with a smooth ceiling, it can be plastered, and painted with white paint or any color, but very light colors.

If an option is considered in which beams are highlighted on the ceiling, then they should have their own natural color. Most of these ceilings are wooden, but the beams can additionally have decoration in the form of additional beams of a smaller section.

It is allowed to use an opaque paint finish on all wooden elements, but they should have a clear contrast with the main floor of the ceiling. An example of such a contrast would be a combination of white and brown.

Wall decoration

As the decorative materials for the walls, which are used to create interiors in the English style, an array of wood of such species as walnut, oak or mahogany is used. But since it is quite expensive, you can replace these materials on MDF panels that simulate this array. The walls are finished with wood panels only until the middle. Next come the wallpaper or fabric.

Drawing on the wallpaper can be of several options. The most common is the use of vertical stripes. The stripes should be wide and narrow, going in turns, alternating. The color of the stripes is often dark green or dark red. In this embodiment, there will be the following color scheme: dark alternating stripes and a light background of this shade.

Widespread and wallpaper with the image of flowers. But it is worth remembering that the flowers should not be large. The color scheme is close to the same as in the case of stripes. Sometimes instead of wallpaper with flowers, fabric is used, most often chintz, which is pulled on the walls. In this case, all joints are closed with wooden slats made of walnut, oak or mahogany.

Another option for wall decoration over wood panels is plaster. Walls are leveled and after drying are putty and painted. The color scheme can be any, but restraint and contrast will be the main principle. The transition from the ceiling to the walls is decorated with a massive cornice or stucco molding. Its color can be chosen to repeat the main color of the ceiling or contrasting with it, thus highlighting the decorative element itself.

All door blocks installed in the openings should be made of wood and have a massive look. The most suitable for this purpose are panel paintings, with decoration from a large baguette. The color of the doors should match the color of the panels on the walls.

The main element of the room in which guests are welcomed is the fireplace. It must have the correct strict form, and be made of brick or stone. Today, quite often you can find electric fireplaces, but they are decorated in majestic antiquity.

Floor decoration

As a material for flooring, piece parquet is used. This material is best stacked with a frieze, a fringing that runs around the entire perimeter of the room. In the middle, you can type a picture or use a classic styling. The transitions between the walls and the floor are closed with wooden skirting boards, which are painted in the color of the floor.
