Greek-style furniture: basic features

When we recall the Greek style of decoration, we most often represent arched openings, columns, niches with sculptures, frescoes on the walls. However, all this more characterizes the ancient Greek culture, most often this option is used for the antique style of the interior.

If we talk about modern style, these are completely unobtrusive elements of antiquity, designers more prefer to take as a basis the national flavor and the Mediterranean color scheme, type of furniture.

The main features of the Greek style

White color prevails in Greek interiors; it is used for ceilings, floors, walls and furniture. In order to bring personality to such a decor, it adds additional elements of a different color to the room’s palette, most often these are accessories and decor.

For many modern interiors, the theme of the blue sea and sunlight is relevant, in which case white and blue as a basis and additional elements of sand, light beige, light green or sky blue colors.

Furniture selection

The furniture used for the Greek style should be as simple as possible, better made of natural wood. Overly elaborate and expensive finishes, such as velvet or genuine leather upholstery, are not allowed. There is one interesting feature for the Greek style, furniture legs can only be curved to the outside.

Greek style cuisine

First of all, it is worth noting that far from every apartment is appropriate Greek cuisine. The fact is that to implement such an undertaking, the area of ​​the kitchen should not be small, and given that in many houses its area does not exceed 5-9 square meters, it is simply impossible to do this.

In Greek cuisine it is always very spacious and bright, it is best if there are large windows and high ceilings. For the interior, natural materials and natural tones are used. In the kitchen, the use of natural fabrics should prevail, this applies to textiles for curtains, as well as tablecloths and napkins. An excellent solution would be kitchen linen towels.

There should not be much furniture, only all the most necessary and in the required quantity, that is, it should not be overloaded with cabinets and cabinets. To store small items, it is best to use wicker baskets, including from vines. The color of the furniture is light wood. In addition to the kitchen, a dining room or dining area is often equipped. There should be a large table with carved legs. If the chairs will be upholstered, then neutral shades with simple geometric prints are sure to be chosen. Wicker chairs or armchairs in the dining area can be not only a great addition to the baskets used, but will also further emphasize the Greek style.
