Turquoise: the effect of color, with what to combine

The name comes from the semiprecious stone of the same name. He is considered a happy talisman, whose owners will live their whole lives in abundance. Today, this color is suitable for interiors of almost any style and purpose.

The main advantage of this border color is its dual nature. The base consists of two colors: green and blue. And although the bruise belongs to a colder palette (blue of the sky), when warm shades are added, it will instantly sparkle with the azure gentle sea or the hot south. And that means - each turquoise-colored kitchen in the interior (photo below) is unique.

Interior styles

In nature, turquoise in its pure form is rare. More often it is represented by a whole spectrum of tones, it has all kinds of inclusions and streaks. Repeating such a coloring in the kitchen is quite difficult, it is more important to emphasize the style of the room in detail, correctly combining texture and materials.

Details have always occupied one of the leading places in the kitchen. If you hung bright curtains in the room, then your interior is unlikely to become turquoise. Part of the surfaces can be the base color, plus additional decorating techniques are introduced here (for example, textile accessories: towels, curtains, chair covers, tablecloths). The main thing is that the blue-green gamma prevails.

Turquoise is also suitable for small kitchens. In a dark room, where the sun's rays rarely look in, using warm greenish shades, the whole space will come to life.

Turquoise cuisine in the style of Provence

Fresh turquoise tones are loved by the inhabitants of the south, who are attracted by the coolness. Pastel blue often dominates the interiors of the French province. The most favorite shade is heavenly. It is for Provence that a translucent, artfully aged palette in which several neighboring shades are combined is best suited.

A little shabby tabletops and facades look very elegant, in which turquoise skillfully sets off the wooden bottom. Blue wood is well complemented by light wood, flax, stone and burnt clay.

Turquoise is spread in this style on wooden surfaces, walls, fabrics (tablecloths and curtains), as well as in cute porcelain and ceramic baubles. A ceramic tile colors patchwork (on the floor, in the area of the apron) will be a spectacular and expressive accent of the interior.

Scandinavian turquoise cuisine

The Scandinavian style came to us from countries with a cold climate, Sweden and Norway. In this kingdom of the icy nature of the sun, comfort and warmth are very lacking. But it can be added with the help of light wood, ceramics, handmade carpets.

Most often used cloudy and grayish shades of the sky. White marble, stainless steel and glossy ceramics work very well with them. Bright walls will make reality brighter, and the kitchen will seem more spacious. It is best to paint the wall on the sunny side in bright blue.

Bright wall decor will bring the owner's individual style to the room. In general, point accents are the highlight of this style, but turquoise should not be much, as otherwise there is a risk of overloading the interior.

Turquoise kitchen in a modern style

Monochrome turquoise cuisine will hardly fit into the classic interior. But for avant-garde methods, such headsets are more suitable. If you choose a turquoise color in the interior of the kitchen, then black, gray steel and white gloss should complement it.

The modern style does not suffer excesses, the colors must be clean and plain, and the surfaces are smooth (solid glass, artificial stone, chrome steel, polished wood). Such facades and countertops occupy most of the entire space of the room.

If the turquoise kitchen in your interior is bright and rich, then it is better to soften it a bit and use not gloss, but matte paint or semi-gloss satin. Decorate the rest of the surfaces with lighter and more delicate shades.

If there are windows on the sunny side in the kitchen, the turquoise facade of cold tones can refresh and cool the interior. And to be in such a room will be very nice.

Art Nouveau turquoise kitchen

This minimalist style uses both vibrant colors and more subdued ones. Modern, loft and high tech Best combined with a turquoise gloss. Its glare echoes the chrome-plated surfaces of pipes and shelves, fittings. In this rare case, even one turquoise spot can "stretch" the entire interior.

Art Nouveau style is characterized by rounded corners and smooth lines. If you add gloss, you get a bright color of the Red Sea or the tropical ocean. Therefore, in the Art Nouveau style, all kinds of marine images, photo printing with fish, waves and shells are often found.

Turquoise looks very good with metal and favorably emphasizes steel household appliances. But the Art Nouveau style will also fit a countertop or floor made of artificial stone, light wood.

Finishing and materials

The texture of the material greatly affects the perception of turquoise color. Stucco, liquid wallpaper or glare paint look completely different.

Sometimes very large kitchens, such as those combined with the dining room, seem dull. In this case, instead of a monophonic coating, a cladding with any pattern, a mosaic is used.

The largest palette of turquoise shades is present in enamel paints. They are applied to MDF facades and among them you will find even exotic ones, such as the color of thrush eggs, Curacao, tiffany, cyan. Not to mention the more common ones - aquamarine, mint, menthol or aqua.

Turquoise facades

Walls

When decorating walls, a common mistake should be avoided. If you have turquoise countertops, facades and other furniture in your interior, you can hardly call such a kitchen elegant. This is especially true for saturated color. The more tender, light and transparent it is, the more it can be.

There are many options for decorating walls:

  • One of the most simple and working is considered a background coating, with the decoration of all vertical planes.
  • You can use two or three shades for walls, floors and ceilings, instead of one. The room will become more spacious.
  • Select only one turquoise wall that echoes the facade or apron. But remember that then you need a light headset.

Soft turquoise walls

Apron

All kinds of shades of blue and green are often faced with pools and bathrooms, as they emphasize the element of water. Therefore in the zone apron (and especially washing) the natural range of colors will be appropriate, remarkably refreshing the room.

The brightest and most beautiful aprons made of tempered glass with photo printing. You can create almost any pattern by protecting work surfaces and transforming the most uncomplicated room.

Floor and ceiling

Glossy turquoise surfaces are best suited for the ceiling. This color is associated with an endless sky and the ceiling is quite capable of becoming the center of the room, capturing the eyes of itself.

Gypsum panels are an inexpensive but beneficial way. If you have high ceilings, then create a two-tier structure of drywall. Water-based acrylic paints paint a fragment of the ceiling. The uppermost turquoise part or the rim of it will help to raise it in height.

Another good option is a stretch ceiling. Here you have a choice between matte and glossy surfaces. Moreover, the gloss will make the room larger by reflecting lighting fixtures.

For a turquoise floor, ceramic tiles or linoleum are chosen. By installing a “warm floor” system under ceramic tiles, you will get cognitive dissonance. A person entering a cold blue floor will feel warmth and this will perforce attract his attention.

Lighting and kitchen appliances

A turquoise-colored kitchen in the evening will look no less attractive than during the day if you take care of the lighting. Besides led bulbs and small lamps, you can put in the center of a large chandelier to the tone of the whole design.

Lighting Features:

  1. When choosing fixtures, you should especially carefully be with a white kitchen. White color in the best way sets off deep turquoise and the furniture looks incredibly bright (with all the spots).
  2. There are nuances in planning artificial lighting. If the facade is turquoise and this subton is present in the decoration of the walls, then the lamps should be white and neutral.
  3. Blue cold lighting will make the kitchen uncomfortable.
  4. With additional yellow lighting, the turquoise facades distort, and an ugly shade appears.

With a natural turquoise color, the black technique looks best, since these are natural shades of this stone. But white and steel electrical appliances are also suitable (especially for a rustic style). The main thing is that the design in turquoise color should match the photos of the best interiors.
