Discreet white kitchen with extendable dining table

During the construction of our house, my husband and I watched many seasons of the My Kitchen project, studied how other participants set up the premises. Many ideas seemed close, and now it's time to equip our own kitchen.

We moved into a new apartment from the builder, it has already been modernized, the kitchen and other rooms have laminate floors, the ceilings are painted, and the walls are covered with wallpaper for painting.

We didn’t have to redo anything globally, and even the finished redecoration completely satisfied us. True, the choice of finishes was a bit limited, but on the other hand, this allowed significant savings. We created the kitchen project taking into account the circumstances.

I was pleased that initially the developer provided for a sufficient number of outlets, this is important in the kitchen. They didn’t spread the apron with tiles, as was originally planned, they stopped at the skin. We did not have to change and move the walls, we successfully arranged everything in real conditions.

We ordered a corner kitchen set, I liked this idea. Furniture and large household appliances got up very compactly, it’s convenient to work, everything is at hand.

They did not begin to fill a large aperture in the living room according to the project, this allowed a little expansion of the room visually. In this regard, calm colors were chosen for decoration, so that the interior of the kitchen does not attract attention to itself. They searched for a headset for quite some time, monitored prices in different companies until they found a company. Just furniture. I want to note that in different companies the prices for the same project differ significantly.

I wanted to achieve color harmony in the interior. Facades from the laminated chipboard of pearl color look simple and discreet. The working wall was decorated with skins, identical in color with the countertops of the headset. The successful combination of wood decor with wall decoration allowed to maintain the unity of space.

The headset material was not chosen by chance; earlier we had furniture made of chipboard. The quality characteristics are high, the care of laminated surfaces is simple, and the cost is pleasing. Furniture made of this material costs an order of magnitude cheaper than a similar set made, for example, of wood.

Design was chosen jointly, the project was created together with the designer from the furniture factory. As a result, we got exactly what we wanted - a convenient, functional, ergonomic headset. Fundamentally abandoned open shelves in favor of wall mounted cabinets for the ceiling. As the designer commented, high cabinets to the ceiling are a modern trend.

First of all, I wanted to get as much storage space as possible. On the open shelves, every small thing quickly accumulates, which makes it difficult to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen. Tall hanging cabinets make cleaning easy. And with a closed upper tier, headsets look more holistic.

Our favorite place is the dining area. There is a sliding table with a tile top. The most durable material, convenient to use. The table can accommodate many guests. The chairs were left while the old ones, they moved with us from the previous apartment. In style, they do not quite fit into the new interior, but they do not stand out in color. Therefore, while we use them.

Curtains did not begin to hang, they too conceal and so small space. We stopped at the cassette roller blinds on the windows. Convenience is that they do not collect dust and grease. They also hung a light transparent tulle, sewed it to order.

There was an idea to purchase built-in appliances for convenience, but our old gadgets are in perfect condition. Oven and hob of Belarusian production - devices of excellent quality, we have been using them for more than a year. We have had a microwave oven for more than eight years, and have never failed. Our favorite rarity, such models are no longer even produced.

I had to spend money on the sink and faucet. A sink made of artificial stone and a bronze mixer cost about 18.0 thousand rubles, but they look very worthy. The angular arrangement does not cause any inconvenience.

The large opening allowed to create a unified space of the kitchen and living room, so installing a TV in the kitchen did not make sense. My husband suggested an interesting option, and we put the screen on a swivel bracket. Now we have the opportunity to watch programs, not only relaxing in the living room, but also during cooking and eating.

We ordered a kitchen set for 100.0 thousand rubles, the cost includes the delivery and installation of furniture. The dining table cost almost 12.0 thousand rubles, but given its functionality, it costs its money. In total, we spent 170.0 rubles on arranging the kitchen in the new apartment, a little even considering that we did not have to make cosmetic repairs of the surfaces.

I really like our kitchen, despite some flaws that are knocked out of the general concept. Of course, modern style involves the use of more concise solutions. In the future, it will be possible to change household appliances to built-in gadgets, hang a modern chandelier, replace accessories and a faucet, and choose a more suitable tulle for the window.

Since we tried to save on repairs and fit into the existing realities what we had, we got a kind of designer vinaigrette. It’s difficult even to determine which style our interior belongs to. But the advantage is that all these shortcomings are easily fixable, and over time we will definitely fix the errors.
