Self-installation of a gas column: rules and regulations

The geyser (water heater) is the simplest and most economical solution for hot water supply in the home. This device is installed in many private homes and apartments. In old houses, equipment of an early type is most likely left. It is not only not effective, but also dangerous. In this case, the installation of a gas column of a modern type is simply necessary. Such columns comply with safety rules, are convenient in operation, and have a low cost.

Rules for installing a gas column

 It’s easy to guess that electrical equipment could cause an accident. Therefore, there are rules for installing a gas column, regulations, the failure of which threatens with problems with the law. This is correct because rash decisions by the column owner can lead to tragedy.

Independent connection of a geyser is an extremely dangerous activity. In accordance with state regulations, only services with a special installation license can perform this work (the same with heating). However, replacing the old device with a new one is allowed, but not thoroughly installed from scratch.

Below are the standards for installing a gas column according to SNiP, they apply to apartments and private houses in Moscow.

1. The room for installing a geyser - at least 7m3.
2. The wall on which the equipment is planned to be installed should be made of fireproof material (brick, concrete).
3. The presence of good ventilation and windows in the room where the speaker is installed is a prerequisite.
4. Ceiling height of at least 2 meters.
5. To place the device, you will have to find the chimney in the room.
6. Adequate operation of the entire system is possible with a water pressure of 1 atm.
7. Unauthorized installation in the bathroom and toilet is prohibited. In addition, in the kitchen, the unit must be at a distance of not less than 10 cm from the hob, but it must not be hung above it.

These were the latest norms of SNiP. Old ones differ to some extent. If you have an old type column in the bathroom, you can replace it with a new one - this will not be a violation of the law.

We prepare documents before connecting the gas column

The initial installation is often accompanied by high costs and work with a bunch of documentation. However, this fact does not repel apartment owners.

In the absence of a gas pipeline in the house, you will have to independently conduct gas supply lines. This will require a lot of money, so it is advisable to unite with neighbors who also want to install speakers.

What documentation steps should the owner go through?

Firstly, to obtain consent from gas distributors and transporters for gas supply and for the installation of land allocation under the gas pipeline. Plus, calculate the consumption and get an extract with the technical conditions.

Secondly, create a project. This includes the conclusion of an agreement, the collection of all documents and their thorough examination, and obtaining permission from inspections.

Thirdly, after the installation work is completed, it is necessary to conclude an agreement with GORGAZ and OBLGAZ.

It is impossible to legitimize such activities without appropriate documents. The following is a list of them.

• A document confirming your ownership of the apartment (photocopy);
• 2nd, 3rd, 5th page of the passport (photocopy);
• photocopy of tax identification number (TIN);
• permission to process your personal data;
• a document on the purchase of gas and a letter indicating the conclusion of an agreement for future work;
• document on the maintenance of gas equipment;
• technical conditions for gas connection and confirmation of compliance with technical conditions;
• a photocopy of the act stating the division of property between the homeowner and the gas distributor;
• a photocopy of the technical certificate of the gas meter and the conclusion on its verification; copy of the entire project and a stamp from the Gazprom branch.

How to install a gas water heater

Now we have approached the installation of a gas water heater in the apartment. After you managed to register activity in all inspections, draw gas lines, receive a full set of documentation and to fulfill all technical specifications, setting up a gas column will not be large labor.

Main steps:

1. Remove the front panel and determine the location of the anchors by marking the fasteners. Verification of the markup is carried out using a building level. Drill holes, screw in dowels and anchors.
2. Install the fixing plate (present in most models) and align with the building level.
3. Place the column directly on the plate. A correct click will testify to the correctness of this action.
4. From the outlet of the water heater to the common chimney, lay the corrugated pipe. Work the wall with a puncher, insert a chimney there. Space m / d wall and chimney must be covered with foam.

Choosing a place to install

Standards for installing a geyser in an apartment require the correct placement of equipment. First of all, they are based on the installation of the hood according to all the rules, the convenience of the location of the water heater and the possibility of communications.

The volume of the room should exceed 8m3.

The wall on which the unit is hung must be fireproof. Otherwise, a galvanized metal sheet up to 1 mm thick is used. If we talk about the height at which the gas column is hung, then everything is accurate - from the side panel to the wall at least 15 cm and in front of the front panel at least 60 cm of free space.

In the living room, you can either place a new appliance in the kitchen, or replace the old one in the bathroom. Training

If you need to replace the column, then first of all we dismantle the old device. Be sure to check the quality of the valve shutoff on the gas pipe to prevent gas leakage. All valves in the water supply must be shut off.

Now disconnect all pipes and a flexible hose with gas from the column. The chimney is also dismantled. The column is removed (after detaching the front panel).

Very often the wall needs redecorating. Old fasteners are removed, and the holes are poured with a special solution.

When finishing, the wall is leveled. A special adapter is connected to the chimney for connecting corrugations. pipes.

Installation

You will need:

• drill (or punch) with a set of drills (0.8-1 cm);
• a set of fasteners (self-tapping screws, anchors), the type of fastening is selected depending on the column manufacturer;
• bubble, laser level.

To gain access to the fasteners of the water heater, you need to remove the front panel. Further, according to the markings of these fasteners, mark on the wall the places of attachment of anchors or hooks. The location of the tags must be checked by level. Holes (2.4 pcs.) Are drilled with a drill, where anchors or dowels are then placed.

Most modern models have a plate, which is primarily mounted on the wall. This greatly simplifies the installation of the gas column. The plate is applied to the wall, aligned in level and outlines the location of the fasteners.

Drill a hole at the desired height and fix the plate, put down the level. Then drill the remaining holes. This completes the installation.

It remains to fix the water heater. Put the front panel aside so as not to damage (it is too early to fix it).

The chimney for the column is most often a corrugated flexible pipe made of steel. Take a punch along the wall, then insert the chimney. The remaining gap is either sealed with a non-combustible insulation, or simply filled with foam.

Gas connection

When installing equipment for the first time, it is required to hold a pipe with gas. This work is carried out exclusively by gas service specialists who have the appropriate permits. To do this, you will have to fill out an application and invite the masters. They will tack in the tee into the pipe going to the stove. A pipe is connected to the tee and then moved to the installation site.

If you know the exact model of the device, bring the tube to its junction to avoid the use of a flexible hose. Note that there is a gas valve in front of the connection. First of all, the column is mounted on the wall, and therefore the gas pipe is connected to it.

An even simpler way is to bring the pipe edge up to a distance of 50 cm to the installation site and end the path by connecting a gas valve. In this case, you do not have to focus on the work schedule of the gas service masters, and perform installation at a convenient time.

Water connection

A pipe of cold water is routed to the unit, and hot wiring is performed throughout the house. It is better to connect to the water heater with the help of an American (connection with a movable cap nut).

Be sure to place ball valves on the hot and cold water lines as shutoff valves.

The durability of the heat exchanger depends on the purity of the water. Therefore, it is advisable to install a filter.

There are two ways to run pipes:

1. At a distance of less than 30 cm, connect using a flexible hose or a copper tube.
2. Depending on the material of the main wiring, make a direct connection of metal-plastic, polypropylene, steel, pipes.

Starting and tuning the gas column

Before starting, check for seams. Pipes for gas and water supply must be airtight. To check if this is the case, there is a proven way:

 wash all connections and fittings with soapy water;

• open the gas tap;
• check for bubbles at the joints;
• water pipe joints are much easier to check, just make sure they are dry.

Starting is carried out according to the instructions of the purchased device. Another important step is tuning. It is produced using a manometer (the price of this device can vary greatly depending on the functionality). The gas pressure is affixed with the adjustment bolt, and the air supply with a sheyber.
