This is a single design consisting of interconnected nozzles. She is serves to protect against water flowing over the edge of the bathtub during filling and provides its quick reset after completion of procedures.

We list the necessary parts of the device:

  1. Drain connector. Located in the bottom of the bath, it is a combination of a chrome funnel that catches large contaminants and a piece of expanding pipe with a built-in nut. A steel screw holds the elements together, a rubber seal protects against leaks. This part is used to collect and drain water.
  2. Overflow opening. Located in the wall of the tank, it has a similar design, is connected via a side drain. With its help, the liquid level in the bath is controlled.

  3. Siphon - an arc-shaped device that blocks odors from the sewer. It is connected with the overflow of corrugated eyeliner (excess water enters), the transition from it to the sewage system passes through an additional pipe, which allows you to empty the bath.

How to choose? Options

The buyer first of all pays attention to the appearance of the product. However, it is necessary to take into account a number of nuances:

  1. Pay attention to the manufacturer, as far as it is known and whether it is popular, look at the reviews on its products.
  2. Evaluate your financial capabilities. The more affordable is the classic version (plastic model), expensive items are a semiautomatic device and an automatic machine.
  3. Make sure your bath is compatible with new equipment; mismatched pipe diameters are connected using adapters.
  4. If additional features are needed (for example, the siphon may have several connections, through which various plumbing is connected), make sure they are available.
  5. A complete set of equipment, in addition to the system itself, contains the required number of connecting rings and gaskets.
  6. The external elements through which water passes retain their design, strength and resistance to oxides, if made from stainless steel.

Material

Industry uses three types of raw materials resistant to corrosion, exposure to hot liquids, alkaline, acidic agents:

  1. Ferrous metals are resistant to external factors, the duration of operation, were common in the last century, but now give way to modern materials.
  2. Plastic constructions stand out for their low cost, universality of sizes (suitable for custom baths). Other advantages are ease of assembly, light weight and the absence of deformation upon contact with water.
  3. Non-ferrous metals have the longest service life, increased strength, attractive design. If the device is regularly cleaned, it can work for several decades.

The raw materials used must meet the parameters:

  • ferrous metals have no defects (dents, cracks, etc.);
  • high-quality plastic is determined by a dense shell;
  • non-ferrous metal is characterized by a smooth surface on which there is no damage.

Automation system

There are three types of devices in stores:

  • classic harness;
  • semiautomatic device;
  • machine.

The simplest and most affordable option does not involve moving parts. The liquid begins to accumulate after closing the plug or goes into the sewer when the plug is opened.

Semi-automatic

Made the bathing process easy and simple. This is a more complex device than the standard harness, and contains the following elements:

  • semiautomatic devicecontrol lever - provides closing and opening of a stopper;
  • shut-off valve - depending on its position, the liquid enters the tank or leaves;
  • blocking rod - adjusts the position of the system.

The control unit can have a different look (key, handle, rotary part, etc.). is he activated by pressing or turning, then the cable moves, which acts on the valve, facilitating its opening or closing.

On a note! The rod can be located both inside and outside the pipe (pipe). The first method is difficult to repair, but will provide an attractive appearance of the model.

Product Advantages:

  • convenient to manage the drain (no need to wet your hands);
  • stylish design (overflow hole hidden behind the control module).

The disadvantages are the complexity of the assembly, due to which individual components (for example, a cable) can fail over time.

Automation

Such equipment consists of a key-valve. Management takes place in 2 steps:

  1. automatic overflow drainAfter the first press of a button in the valve, a spring is activated, lowers it, thereby closing the drain hole. An integrated retainer provides fluid collection.
  2. Repeated exposure activates the drain.

Benefits:

  • It’s convenient to switch modes by foot;
  • minimum dimensions of the device;
  • keys have a diverse design;
  • flooding is eliminated due to the filling of the bathtub through the upper inlet (water stops flowing in the event of an excess).

The disadvantages of the option are the high cost, the complexity of installation (professional skills are required) and key replacement, relatively quick spring wear.

Installation method

Installation methods are identical for all varieties, with one amendment: automatic (preferably semi-automatic) devices are best entrusted to an experienced master. This is necessary to maintain the warranty on the goods.

Important! Read the instructions for the product and clearly follow the indicated sequence of actions to avoid possible errors.

Operating procedure:

  • if old equipment is installed, dismantle it;
  • on both sides of the bathtub we remove dirt, rust, etc., if necessary, clean a piece of pipe leading to the sewer;
  • the inlet to the drain hole and the adapter for drainage are equipped with nuts (thread facing joint), we put on conical gaskets (their narrow side is turned to the joint) and we join siphon;
  • said parts are tightly fixed to the siphon with union nuts;
  • on top of the drain part, in a special recess, place the gasket;
  • the drain connector, the upper part to the bottom of the tank, is installed in the drain hole, taking into account the desired location of the pipe segment attached to the overflow pipe;
  • seal the bath from above with a ring, then lay the grate and fix it with a screw (it is screwed into the nut inside the neck);
  • the second side of the adapter is equipped with a nut, an outward thread, and a conical gasket, a corrugated connection is connected to the sewage pipe (the latter is purchased separately);
  • place the gasket in the upper part of the overflow pipe, inside the union nut, then connect it to the overflow connector;
  • in an identical way, the specified pipe is combined with the pipe of the drain opening;
  • we place the rubber gasket on the overflow part, which we press against the overflow of the tank from the outside;
  • we equip the overflow with a grate, fasten with a screw (screwed into the neck nut).

Manufacturer

The stores present products of both domestic and foreign companies. We recommend choosing a product whose manufacturer has international quality certificates. List of reliable manufacturers:

  1. Geberit, a Swiss brand, manufactures plumbing systems at medium market prices, in a wide range. Raw materials used: plastic, brass, copper, chrome steel. Swiss companies are known for their product quality, reliability and long service life.
  2. Kaiser uses bronze and chrome steel. It is worth paying attention to its systems in situations when a siphon of non-standard dimensions is required (for deep bowls).
  3. Viega - products are characterized by a variety of designs, affordable. The production uses plastic, bronze, brass, stainless steel.
  4. Hansgrohe manufactures structures based on polymer, steel, and combinations thereof.
  5. WasserKraft uses both white and black plastic, steel, bronze and combines raw materials.
  6. The Czech company Alcaplast produces simple and reliable devices, the largest supplier of Eastern Europe.
  7. The French company Jacob Delafon specializes in polymer plumbing and combinations with other materials. In our country, its products are in demand due to the quality, ease of installation and operation.
  8. The Russian manufacturer Triton manufactures products from plastic and mixed raw materials. Models are distinguished by an affordable price in combination with fairly reliable characteristics.

Use our information, and the choice of a drain-overflow system will not be of any difficulty. There are only three of its modifications: manual, semi-automatic and automatic modes. Focusing on the best manufacturers, you will make a quality purchase that will last for many years. Installation of a simple circuit can be carried out independently, but we recommend that you entrust the complicated installation to specialists.
