The original remote control that came with the TV may break, get lost, there are cases of spontaneous settings failure. To find a new identical one can be problematic, and even a fully functioning “lazy person” could be lying around from the previous TV or even a VCR. Newer models have a special button - auto scan, which allows you to bind the remote control to any TV, but if there is no such button, you will have to reprogram the device. It is not as difficult as it sounds, and the skills of a programmer are not needed.
How to reprogram the remote - algorithm
If the remote control is not new and its serviceability is in doubt, then to check the performance - look at the infrared diode (light in front of the remote control) through the camera of the phone or digital camera - it should light up when you press buttons. The eye does not see the IRDA range, but the camera recognizes. Next, we need a device code (usually 4 digits). You can find it in the instructions for the TV, or by studying the sticker on the back of the device, where the model and serial number are indicated.
If this does not succeed, then on RCA.com you can search for the code either by the brand of the TV, or by the brand of the previous remote control, if any. Open the hatch where the batteries are located and look for an engraving or sticker with a label, for example, RCR321A. We enter this brand in the search field on the RCA website - and we get a code, or even a whole instruction with all the setup codes.
The direct binding algorithm is as follows.
- You need to press and hold the TV button on the remote. The LED will light up, if one is provided for in the design. Do not release the button.
- Now you need to dial the TV code on the digital buttons on the remote control. At the beginning of dialing, the diode turns off, then turns on again.
- Release the TV button. A single blinking of the diode indicates that the code is valid, four times - a sign of an input error, you must start all over again.
- Switch the channel to make sure the link is successful.
Perhaps not all functions will be available, but the basic ones (switching channels, turning on / off, adjusting sound, images, entering the menu) should work.
