Mosquito net.With the arrival of heat through the open windows and windows, “uninvited guests” - flies, midges, wasps, mosquitoes and other insects begin to enter the premises. Plus, the wind brings dust, poplar fluff and various garbage. Mosquito barriers on windows and balcony doors help protect the home from all these “charms”.

About 15 years ago, insects were fought with the penetration of an ordinary gauze or tulle, which were attached to the window with clerical buttons. Such “decoration” on the windows looks unaesthetic and will last only a few months.

Today in any hardware store you can buy a special mosquito net quite inexpensively. People call it a mosquito net or a "mosquito".

This mesh cloth is a fiberglass coated with a thin layer of PVC. Easy to attach to wood, plastic, aluminum and combination surfaces.

The advantages of such material are:

  • durability and long service life;
  • resistance to temperature fluctuations;
  • resistance to sunlight;
  • high degree of protection against dust and insects;
  • the ability to freely transmit light and air;
  • environmental friendliness and lack of an unpleasant smell;
  • reasonable cost.

The mesh canvas, most often, has a width of 1.5 - 1.6 m. This indicator varies - each manufacturer has its own standards. Cells have different sizes. For windows, the most commonly used canvas with cells from 0.1 cm to 0.3 cm.

Manufacturers produce several types of mesh cloth, depending on its destination:

  • "standard";
  • "Outdoor";
  • "Elite":
  • “Anti-dust” and “anti-pollen”;
  • "Antimoshka";
  • "Anti-cat";
  • "Maximum visibility."Types of mosquito net.

Most modern windows are metal-plastic. They are equipped with mosquito barriers. Their design is designed in such a way that does not impede the functioning of windows at all, they are easy to install, remove and are inexpensive.

Byplace of installation mosquito nets are divided into two groups:

  • window;
  • door.

By the method of fastening:

  • outdoor;
  • internal.

By types of construction:

  • framework (most popular);
  • swing (as wickets);
  • sliding;
  • rolling (roll);
  • pleated (in the form of "accordion").

Determined with the design and material of manufacture

If the mosquito net has broken during operation or flew away, torn by a gust of wind, as well as when installing windows it was decided to save on it, the mosquito fence is easy to do on your own, and it will cost absolutely inexpensively.

In order to determine what exactly you need, a number of factors should be taken into account:

  • type of structure - private house or multi-unit;
  • what floor is the house on;
  • type of window material - metal-plastic or wooden;
  • opening method - rotary or folding;
  • the presence of pets;
  • the presence of building experience.DIY mosquito net.

Based on the above points, the type of structure, type of material and method of attaching the mosquito fence are selected.

It is clear that if the apartment is on a high floor, then the method of internal fastening is suitable. In a one-story house, you can install nets outside.

If you live in the tundra, where there are a lot of vultures or in the steppe region, where there is a lot of dust, you should choose a mesh with a smaller mesh size. If there is a cat in the house, then the canvas is better to choose an “anti-cat”.

You should decide on the color of the grid. Light canvas - smears the picture outside the window, making it fuzzy and opaque. Gray, brown and black will make it sharper and less vague, but dust and dirt will be visible on it, and green will be pleasing to the eye.

Attention! In the pursuit of cheapness, you should not choose a grid of dubious quality or cheap Chinese, it is better to purchase a canvas from well-known manufacturers. Low-quality material begins to crack and crumble after the first season of operation.

If you decide to use a frame structure, you need to decide on how to attach the mesh to the frame. The most common and reliable is the Z-shaped profile. Often use plungers and staples.

Making measurements for making a window mesh

“Measure seven times, and cut once” - this proverb in this case is very relevant. Not only the appearance of the window will depend on the accuracy of measurements, but also whether the mosquito fence will be able to carry out its task efficiently and whether it will become an obstacle when opening and closing the window.

Measurements are carried out using a tape measure or tape. When the window is open, measure the width and height of the window opening along the inner edges of the frame, from one sealing gum to another.

The mosquito net is laid out on a flat surface. Marker or pencil mark and make a pattern.Mosquito net trim.

Attention! When cutting the grid, you can focus on the cells, in which case the cut line will be flat.

The process of manufacturing a mesh with a frame

Lightweight enough in execution - frame designs. This is the main reason for their widespread use.

Option No. 1 - from the cable channel

This option is the simplest and easiest, compared to others. Frame dimensions - we have already measured the length and width and the mesh is cut out.

What is needed:

  • cable channel - 1.5 x 1.0 cm (its length is selected in accordance with the perimeter of the window opening);
  • plastic profile with a U-shaped section;
  • corners flat metal - 4 pcs.;
  • aluminum rivets (diameter - 7–10 mm);
  • riveter;
  • drill with a drill 4 mm;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • miter box.Frame mosquito net from the cable channel.

General assembly algorithm:

  1. Make markings on the cable channel along the length and width of the window opening.
  2. Saw off pieces of the cable profile at an angle of 45 degrees, remove the covers from them. For this stage of work, it is very convenient to use a "miter box", which will allow you to saw off the profile at an angle of 45 degrees.
  3. On a flat surface, fold the future structure with a rectangle.
  4. At the corners, arrange metal corners and mark the places of the holes.
  5. Drill holes and connect the structure with rivets.
  6. Place the net on the finished frame, making sure there are no wrinkles and close the covers.
  7. Saw off two pieces of a U-shaped profile with a hacksaw length = width of the frame.
  8. Fix pieces of the U-shaped profile on the window at the top and bottom, so that the structure easily fits into them.

Option number 2 - from the purchase kit

This option is more difficult to manufacture than the first and more expensive.

In a hardware store, you need to purchase a ready-made kit for making a frame and mesh. Prepare the necessary tools and assemble the frame according to the instructions.

Features of manufacturing frameless design

The cheapest way is to install a mosquito net directly on the frame. The easiest to do it yourself is frameless or frameless mosquito net.

To produce a frameless structure, it is necessary to make a gap on the mesh web of 20-30 mm. We recall that measurements were taken and the "mosquito" has already been cut.

Option No. 1 - in place of the sealing cord

What is needed:

  • rubber or any other cord or clothesline with a diameter of 0.4 cm;
  • scissors;
  • the tool for “pushing” the cord into the groove is the handle of a screwdriver or knife.Mosquito net.

Production Algorithm:

  1. Carefully remove the sealing cord from the groove so as not to damage it.
  2. If the window is no longer new, then dust and dirt must have accumulated in the groove. Use a damp cloth to rinse it.
  3. Starting from the top corner, along the perimeter, the cord with the mesh is pressed into the groove. In this case, it is necessary to observe the uniformity and quality of the web tension.

Attention! The sealing gum is washed, dried and put away for storage. In the fall, the cord with the net is removed from the window frame, and the sealing cord is put in place. The net and cord are washed and cleaned until spring.

Option number 2 - on the "Velcro"

What else will you need besides the grid:

  • tape measure or centimeter;
  • contact tape - Velcro, its length = the perimeter of the window opening;
  • glue or liquid nails;
  • thread, needle;
  • scissors.Velcro mosquito net.

Production Algorithm:

  1. According to the taken dimensions, cut the contact tape into 4 parts.
  2. Rinse the frame thoroughly and degrease it with solvent or alcohol.
  3. Glue the sticky (barbed) part of the tape onto a frame greased with glue.
  4. The other part is to sew along the perimeter to the mesh fabric manually or using a sewing machine.
  5. Connect both parts of the contact tape, while the grid is firmly fixed on the frame.

Attention! Sewing Velcro to the net, you should leave a piece of 3-5 cm, for this “tongue” you can pull to separate the net from the frame.

Hand-made mosquito nets are unpretentious in care. It is enough to wipe their surface with a wet sponge with a detergent dissolved in warm water.

Attention! Before washing, dust particles, debris and fluff from the net cloth with a cold hairdryer or vacuum at low speeds. The frame structure is easy to wash with running water from the shower.

A self-made mosquito will protect the house from “unwanted guests”, debris, dust, protect it from falling out of the windows of pets and birds, as well as from falling down various objects, for example, flowerpots.

As you can see, making a mosquito net is very easy and fast. To do this, it is not necessary to be a joiner of the 3rd category. It will cost much cheaper than the "finished"!
