Two types of designs can be distinguished:
- Forged. Their base consists entirely of pipes. They are relatively light: the weight is always no more than 50–55 kg. There are two types of forging: cold and hot. In the 1st case, a person does practically nothing: the apparatus does everything necessary, so the assembly remotely resembles stamping. If it comes to another method, then the master does the main work. He heats a metal product to a temperature of 600 degrees, after which, when forging, it gives the necessary shapes to the parts.
- Welded. The main difference from the previous view is the method of connecting parts, i.e. welding.

Do-it-yourself metal bed: step-by-step technology
Based on the selected drawing, prepare blanks made of profile pipes - they will become the basis of the future back. Lay them out on a level place, in accordance with the scheme, and then fix by welding. Pay close attention to the degree of angles if you want an even construction. Then, the steps and plugs are installed on the ends of the pipes.
Next step. You will need a grinder and a channel. Brackets are created to attach the frame. Again, it is worth starting from the drawing, but the following proportion is almost always observed: 2 in the center, 4 on the sides, the slope of the latter should be 5 degrees. Attach the frame to the back with a solid seam. The accepted distance to the floor is no more than 0.45 m.
IMPORTANT! Channel bars (best made of steel) should be cut into special blanks. The most optimal calculation: frame length + 4–7 cm. Channel bars should be connected by corners.
Decorating an iron bed
To give a more pleasant appearance to the created design, you need all the bumps, seams, etc. cut off with a grinder, after which it is already brushed, sanded.
Further, the use of various forging methods is already permitted. The best option is to order an individual work from a blacksmith, so you will definitely get a good result. Metal beds look most impressive in the following colors: white, black and red (dark shades).
