Cartridges are classified according to several criteria. Depending on the office equipment, there are the following types:
- Dot matrix. They have a non-separable case and a special tape on which paint is applied. May contain from 1 to 4 colors. They are not used at home, due to the low speed and poor print quality.
- Inkjet. Work on liquid paint. Provide high quality printing (especially color photos), easy to use and install, there is the possibility of refueling. This is a budget option, as they are inexpensive. Meet with a built-in ink head (which makes replacing a cartridge more expensive). Their disadvantage is the fast consumption of colors, since the capacity is on average designed for 200 pages.
- Laser Work on a dry coloring powder. They are characterized by high speed and low consumption: one toner is enough for about 2000 pages. However, they do not function well after refueling (it is not provided for in some models) and have a high price - up to ¾ of the cost of the printer itself. As a rule, only black and white printing is supported.
- LED light. In their parameters, they coincide with laser consumables.
The second classification - depending on the conditions of replacement and repeated use:
- Once, after running out of paint, they are replaced by a new cassette. These include licensed cartridges with a special chip that can automatically block the continuation of printing after a certain number of pages.
- Renewable components support refueling and work stably after it.
Analogs are cartridges produced by other companies that can fully replace a certain list of original products. Often they are capable of renewing with refueling.
ATTENTION! Beware of fakes. No need to buy tanks at dubious outlets.
Which cartridge is better to choose
Before you buy toner, consider the following nuances:
- cartridge usage frequency and print level;
- speed, acceptable frequency of refueling or changing a cartridge;
- manufacturer;
- cost.
Ink cartridge suitable if you want to get high-quality color photos and plan to use the equipment in the usual mode, without a large print volume.

Laser toner it will provide a high printing speed and a long working mode without replacements, it will give a quick result even with a large number of sources. If the high price of the product does not bother you, then this is your option.
In the case when there is no experience in choosing a specific model, you can pay attention to the products of such popular manufacturers as HP, Epson, Canon, known for quality and affordable price.
How to find out which cartridge you need for your printer
If you already have a printing device, then the cartridge should be purchased, focusing on the printer model. Open the device and carefully consider the containers: each of them has a sticker with a digital code, it is for him to choose a replacement.
Data may appear on the packaging (if it is preserved).
Another way: go to the website of the printer manufacturer. We look for information either in the section devoted to consumables, or we type in the search model of your PU and look at its main characteristics.
IMPORTANT! To avoid confusion, write down the numbers you are looking for, as there is a large selection of toners in stores, and there is a risk of acquiring the wrong capacity. These products are not subject to return and exchange.
There are two acquisition options: buy a licensed cartridge from the manufacturer or its analogue, from another company. The analogues contain a list of those cartridges that they can fully replace. Read these numbers carefully, if in doubt, contact the seller. Similar products have a significant advantage over the originals: the price difference can be thousands of rubles, while maintaining the print quality.
