More recently, photographs were taken with analog cameras. The resulting images were displayed on film, which then had to be developed and printed in special laboratories. Professionals working in a photo studio were engaged in this. Not much time passed and digital technologies replaced obsolete ones. The process of photographing and the subsequent receipt of finished images has been greatly simplified. However, many have a large number of negatives, which for various reasons I would like to show and print. This can be done now - at home without the use of special devices.

The easiest way to quickly and easily digitize a film is a special workshop. There are many companies that provide this service. But usually it takes a lot of time, and is not cheap.
ATTENTION! Very often there are frames on the film that I do not want to show to strangers. This should be considered when contacting the workshop.
You can also purchase a scanner and digitize the film yourself. This will allow you to select only the necessary frames.

However, the most common option is to make a homemade scanner. This is quite simple to do, without the need to purchase something on purpose. A home-made device can be made from materials available in any home. This will require:
- Cardboard box. The best option is a shoe or juice box. They are dense, which will prevent light from getting inside.
- A digital camera or smartphone with a good camera and flash.
- Source of ambient light. Usually use daylight, a flash or a table lamp.
- White paper - to scatter a beam of light.
- Glass or a piece of plastic.
- A plastic cup.
After all the materials are prepared, you can begin to assemble the product.
Step-by-step production of a homemade film scanner:
- In a cardboard box you need to make two holes. One of them should be located at the end of the box and have a rectangular shape. The second needs to be shaped like a circle, and cut out at the bottom of the box. The size of the round hole depends on the light source.
- A white sheet of paper needs to be rolled up into a pipe and placed inside the box, inserted through a round hole. There he will take its original shape and in the future will serve as a diffuser of a beam of light.
- Glass or a piece of plastic should cover the hole located at the end of the box. You need to do this using glue or tape to fix it.
- Next, you need to cut off the bottom of the plastic cup. The resulting hole will accommodate the lens of a digital camera.
- From a small piece of cardboard you need to make a film holder.
- Insert film into the retainer, and then place it on a fixed glass or piece of plastic.
- Install a glass with a cut bottom on top.
- On the camera you need to set the "Macro" mode, and then set it on the glass. The lens should be pointing down. If you are using a smartphone, you must set the mode to "Negative".
- Turn on the backlight and take a picture.

In the same way, you need to take photos of all the frames available on the film.
After the photos are transferred to the phone or digital camera, the device must be connected to a computer or laptop. All the resulting photos should be copied and inverted, that is, from the resulting negative, make ordinary photos.
ATTENTION! The quality of the photos received will depend on the resolution of the camera of the smartphone or digital device!
DIY negatives scanner: several ways
For the manufacture of a homemade scanner, you can use not only a box of juice or shoes. Very often, the following materials are used for this:
- PVC pipe. The design is quite small in size. As a light source, you can use ordinary daylight. The diffuser in this product is located immediately behind the film.
- Styrofoam. The assembly principle is the same, just the box is replaced with foam. The camera here is located on top of a makeshift scanner.
Making a scanner yourself is quite simple. This will require the usual materials that can be found in any home.
