How to glue skirting boards to the ceiling

The sequence of actions directly depends on the type of materials used. It matters whether the wallpaper needs to be replaced or whether the wallpaper can be glued over the old one.

Step by step guide

You should start by purchasing tools. The final step is waiting for complete drying. The speed of the process depends on the adhesive.

Required inventory

In the course of the work, glue, ceiling plinth and, possibly, sealant will be used. You will also need tools:

• ruler;
• pencil;
• construction knife;
• roulette;
• brush;
• rubber spatula;
• clean rags;
• miter box.

If there is a tension structure in the room, additionally use a polyethylene lining. It is placed between the fillet and the ceiling, and as the glue hardens, it is removed.

Preparation for work

Good adhesion is only possible with a smooth, clean surface. It is necessary to give the walls the specified properties by washing and sanding with a bar.

Bonding putty on the mixture

• Unprepared walls. We level the surfaces, and if necessary, we process them from fungus, mold. If they are even and not infected, it is sufficient to remove dust and small debris from them.
• Carrying out work immediately after wallpapering. At least 24-48 hours should have elapsed since the last moment.
• Wrong glue. Massive heavy baguettes are not glued to polyvinyl acetate compounds. Products containing solvents are not suitable for Styrofoam skirting boards.
• Excessive smoothness on the wrong side of the baguette. The reverse side should be roughened for better grip.
• Drafts, sudden changes in temperature.

A common mistake is misjudgment of one's own strength. If the walls and ceiling are uneven, the room is damp or it is infected with fungus, you should seek professional help. The same should be done in the absence of any experience in repair and finishing work, combined with a keen desire to obtain an ideal result.
