The beautiful fruit of the horse chestnut is a favorite material for autumn crafts. It is fascinating to collect them all together, adults and kids. It is even more interesting to fantasize and create wonderful crafts out of them at school and at home. With a little inspiration from chestnuts, you can create a real "zoo" of funny cute animals. Or, for example, you can make a symbol of autumn - mushrooms.
Most chestnut crafts involve the use of wire, plasticine, glue and numerous other auxiliary materials. Is it possible to make something truly beautiful only from the chestnuts themselves? Of course!

To create souvenir mushrooms that can decorate a bookshelf or, for example, a mother's desk, you will need:
- Freshly picked chestnuts;
- Convenient knife;
- Any material for creating an autumn composition (if desired).
Chestnuts must be fresh. The brown shell of these fruits hardens over time. It will be more difficult to remove it from chestnuts that have lain for several days. The green spiked skin is not useful for this craft. The bright fruits removed from them must be sorted. The flat and small rounded chestnuts look like mushroom caps. The most beautiful ones should be put aside.
From thicker large chestnuts, you can cut fairly high legs.
The fruits intended for the production of the legs must be peeled.
Now you can cut the legs out of them. First you need to make blanks by cutting off the extra pieces of chestnut pulp. It is important to cut one of the edges of the workpiece very evenly, the one on which the finished "mushroom" will then stand. It depends on how well it is cut, whether the souvenir fungus will stand on the table or will constantly fall.
Now it's time to shape the pieces of chestnuts into the shape of mushroom legs. This must be done carefully and carefully, gradually cutting off, scraping off thin layers.
The hats of the future "mushrooms" should sit firmly enough on the prepared legs. To do this, in the previously laid flat chestnuts, it is necessary to make holes, indentations of the required depth and diameter.
To get the "mushrooms", the caps must be fixed on the legs. In order for the legs to fit more tightly into the recesses of the caps, they need to be deepened or expanded a little more. If necessary, you can cut some of the pulp from the top of the legs.
From several chestnut mushrooms, you can make an autumn composition. For this purpose, for example, a sprig of dried St. John's wort or a few dry autumn leaves will come in handy.
