Concrete is one of the oldest materials used in construction. However, not even all professionals can work with him without making mistakes. The quality of a concrete product primarily depends on the correctness of its preparation, therefore, special attention must be paid at the stage of mixing the material. The most common mistakes that beginners make are the following:
- Use of inappropriate water.
- The use of cement that has been stored for a long time.
- Excessive addition of various additives.
- The use of dirty filler, including sand.
- High or low cement content.
- Lack of special mechanized tools that are designed for mixing concrete.

Many beginners want to increase the strength of concrete due to the fact that they fill in an increased dose of cement. However, such an action leads exactly to the opposite result. Already in the finished product will appear a large number of cracks due to shrinkage. Also, the foundation becomes waterproof, which threatens further complete destruction.

It is also not recommended to pour out less material than necessary. Retreating from the recipe is strictly prohibited. If less cement is added, then the concrete begins to stick together, and a void forms inside it. As a result, concrete not only loses strength, but also becomes permeable, completely not protected from corrosion.

The most dangerous mistake that beginners often encounter is the use of material that has been stored for a long time. The material begins to lose its properties if it was not stored correctly, or the shelf life was too long. Cement bags must be stored in an enclosed area, where there is no increased humidity and wind. They are on shelves about 30 cm high, not on the floor. Even with all the rules, cement should not be stored for more than 3 months.

For kneading, it is imperative to use special mechanized equipment. Miniature concrete mixers designed for small volume are specially sold for homework. The mixture using this technique turns out to be of high quality and homogeneous. Mixing by hand with a shovel or other tool is not advisable, since the material is obtained with lumps, it is not suitable for work.
