What harmful substances can hide rooms?

Mushrooms and mold irritate the mucous membranes, cause allergic reactions and respiratory diseases.
Pests:

Electric smog

Electric and magnetic fields cause disturbances in the muscle apparatus, nerves, heart, and pacemakers. Experts also suspect that they negatively affect the immune system, contribute to the growth of tumors and the appearance of leukemia in children.

Paints and varnishes

Chemical solvents can cause eye burns, headaches and coughs even in small concentrations. Organic solvents irritate the mucous membranes and cause disturbances in concentration. Natural solvents can cause mucosal irritation, headache, and an allergic reaction. Preservatives cause allergies.

Construction Materials

Harmful substances, such as formaldehyde, solvents or PCBs, may be contained in insulating materials, wood, plastic products, floor coverings, adhesives, varnishes, plaster and window seals. Evaporation of these pollutants creates significant health risks for residents of an apartment or house. Natural materials can also cause problems.

Floor coverings

Ruby PVC can release phthalates, volatile organic compounds that cause nausea, headache, immune system disorders, and mucosal irritation.

Permethrin (protection against moths) is used in wool carpets, and there is a risk of impaired immune system, locomotor disorder, problems with the mucous membrane, nausea and headache.

Solvents, adhesives used in the floors cause eye burns, coughing, irritation of the skin and mucous membranes, headaches.

Parquet and laminate contain formaldehyde - a small amount of it can lead to irritation of the eyes, nose, respiratory tract and headache. If you have been exposed to this substance for quite some time, concentration problems and nausea may occur. The so-called wood dust that occurs during grinding is very dangerous, it is believed that it causes cancer. Old parquet paints include PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons). These substances can also cause cancer, alter the genetic structure of cells, and damage the immune system.

Furniture

Furniture may include:

• Terpenes that cause an allergic reaction;
• Formaldehyde, irritating the mucous membranes, eyes, respiratory tract and at higher concentrations, causing headache, nausea and shortness of breath;
• Solvents that cause headaches, impaired concentration and irritation of the mucous membrane.

Upholstery fabrics may contain pyrethroids, which are used to protect against insects. They cause a number of serious health problems: cramps, memory impairment, disorders of the nervous system.

As already indicated at the beginning of this article, the presence of pollutants in a room can be determined by air measurements. Both indoors and outdoors, we can measure the amount of chemicals in the atmosphere. This does not necessarily mean that all these substances are dangerous and harmful. Measurements are performed by laboratory staff. An analysis of dust suspension is carried out, because it contains almost all pollutants.
