By using thermostats in the living room, a constant temperature is maintained. Such equipment can be used both in apartments and in private houses. What are the disadvantages of thermostats?

What is the thermostat for?
The thermostat is used to create the optimum temperature in the room. After setting it, it will always maintain the degrees at the right level, preventing overheating or cooling in the room.
If you equip every radiator in the house with a thermostatic head, you can save a lot of money on heating costs. About 40% of the heat remains unused.

Thermostats are used for balancing, which allows you to evenly distribute heat from the heating units to all the batteries in the house. This problem occurs in double-pipe circuits with oncoming coolants.

disadvantages
Since there are several types of thermostats on the market that are combined into two large groups: electronic and mechanical, they have different flaws.
Thermostat for solid fuel boilers
If we are talking about a mechanical device, then there are two main points: using a mechanical it’s difficult to understand exactly which temperature is set, and with it you cannot program cycles heating. The latter refers to a change in temperature at certain hours. It is also worth noting that these thermostats have a long reaction to temperature changes (up to 25 minutes or even 40) the time will depend on which head is installed: liquid or solid state.

Bimetal switch with adjustable temperature (electronic)
They have a high price, such electronic bimetallic heads cost about 2500 rubles, while mechanical ones can be found for 1000. The bimetal switches are volatile, they need power for electronics and servo. Two galvanic cells that serve no more than two years are responsible for power.
Other disadvantages of thermostats include the following:
- Installation of complex sensors requires the work of a specialist;
- Mechanical thermostats require a separate setting for each battery;
- If the batteries are located behind the curtains, the determination of the exact temperature by the sensors may be difficult, which subsequently affects the supply of heat to the rooms.
