Polycarbonate is used in the installation process of light-transmitting structures in the adjacent areas. Despite the ease of installation, errors may occur during the process. They often become the reason for the design not to fulfill its direct functionality and the appearance of unpleasant squeaks and cod.

Why does a polycarbonate canopy creak and crack?

Unpleasant sounds during operation of polycarbonate canopies can cause the structure to expand under the influence of high temperatures. In this case, the problem is due to the use of silicone as a sealant for blowing joints at the points of attachment of polycarbonate sheets.

Silicone does not allow the structure to "breathe", and therefore, with a temperature difference, condensate can accumulate inside it, which causes a characteristic creak. Therefore, it is recommended to install polycarbonate sheets using special connecting profiles.

It is also permissible to mount the material to the frame using self-tapping screws. However, in this case, it is strongly recommended to use self-tapping screws paired with special rubber seals that will prevent possible damage to the material during fastening.

How to extend the service life of a polycarbonate canopy?

Cellular polycarbonate must be protected from penetration through its open ends of dust and dirt. You should also remove the protective film from it immediately after mounting the canopy.

With prolonged exposure to sunlight, the film adheres to the surface so much that it is almost impossible to remove it without damaging the surface of the sheets.

If installed and used incorrectly, the polycarbonate sheets may fade and turn yellow. In this case, it is urgent to replace them. All because the yellowing of the material indicates its imminent destruction. Ignoring the replacement of a damaged fragment of a polycarbonate canopy can damage the property stored under it or create unsafe conditions for owners.
