There is no direct answer to the question posed in the title of the article. It depends on the size of the room in which the furniture is supposed to be placed, its functional purpose.

For example, a children's room. Classically, it combines a bedroom, a living room, a private office, a playroom - everything that is necessary for life, the development of a child. Furniture for the design of these areas consists of a large set of elements. They are easy to place in a large room, but in a small room to leave free space is very difficult.

With regard to a large children's room, the answer to the question will be simple - no. There is enough space in it and the question of saving it is not worth it. If the room is small, then for him it is unprofitable, due to lack of free space, maybe even universal set of furniture, represented by a bed, a table, a chair, a closet, shelves for toys and books.

The problem in the latter case is solved by completing the children's room with functional furniture:
- Transformer beds, such an element of furniture, occupying a certain area, can be not only a bed, but also, for example, a changing table, a drawer in which something is stored, or simply increase in length. Pupils are comfortable with loft beds, in which a sleeping place is located on top, and under it is a game or training room. Transformer beds can have built-in fitness equipment, bedside tables, and stairs. A good option to save space is a hanging or built-in bed;

- Items - "nesting dolls", such furniture items are often, because of functionality, called transformers. They hide one in the other, are versatile. An example is a few tables of different sizes that “hide” one below the other and are used as stools;

- Shelving - they, equipped with shelves that can be rearranged, are able to replace a large number of chests of drawers, floor baskets for baby's things;

- In mini-classrooms, they are convenient for older children during their studies, when many books and stationery items appear in their lives. Today you can find on the market such furniture in which in one set there is a bed, a wardrobe, a table and other items;

- Using space under the ceiling. At a height they usually place things that a child needs infrequently. For example, bedding, gifts. If the height of the ceilings is large, then the room can be zoned in height;

- Niches and hidden storage. This, for example, drawers provided in the design of the crib. Arranged as compact sections, they are more convenient than even a spacious cabinet, which occupies a considerable area of the room.

Similarly to the above, we can formulate the answer to the question about furniture, which is not profitable in terms of saving space and for rooms, rooms with a different purpose.
