A half-timbered house is a building that is guaranteed to attract the attention of others. This style in the exterior appeared not very long ago, but has already managed to gain popularity among designers, architects and connoisseurs of everything original in the construction industry.

Style involves the mandatory use in the process of designing and building a house such elements as:
- A frame for which natural or artificial durable boards are selected;
- Braces made of timber;
- Brick, stone, aerated concrete block, cinder block or other building materials, with which the gaps between the beams of the frame are filled.
Experts argue that some types of boards can not be strictly used in the construction of such a house. This is because their use can lead to the destruction of the structure and the emergence of potentially dangerous situations.

Beams with a width of less than 9 cm are not recommended. They can not withstand the load and pressure and provoke blockage of the walls of the house. The optimal width of the beams is considered to be 12 - 15 cm. In some cases, it may be recommended to use boards up to 25 cm wide. They can withstand heavy loads, and therefore they are used in the construction of two- or three-story houses in the style of fachwerk.

Rules for installing boards on the facade
Many beginners fix boards on the facade with self-tapping screws. This cannot be called the right action. This is because almost all houses shrink over time, resulting in self-tapping screws loosening and can no longer cope with the load.

For this reason, it is more advisable to use a special adhesive. The main requirements for glue - it must have good adhesive qualities, be easily applied to the surface of the boards, not absorbed in their pores and dry quickly.
Beam material
As a material for the manufacture of the frame, it is recommended to use coniferous wood. It is characterized by durability, strength and the ability to deter insects and other pests. These qualities are determined by the content of aromatic oils in the wood.
If you want to save a budget, you can replace wooden beams with imitated made of polyurethane foam. Such elements are reliable and resistant to moisture. Their structure can be damaged only by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays. Therefore, they need to be further processed.

A suitable paint composition may be used as a protective layer. It is recommended to apply it in two layers.
