The use of aggressive chemistry
It doesn’t matter what coating the ceiling has: glossy or matte, it is easy to damage it when using abrasive products. These include Pemolux, soda, powders with coarse particles and other scratching compounds. With this treatment, especially on a glossy ceiling there will remain stains, whitish spots and micro-scratches, which can increase over time.
It is also contraindicated to use alkaline and acidic compounds that can corrode the surface of a PVC film, violating the color and integrity of the ceiling. After such impacts, the ceiling can no longer be restored.
Incorrect cleaning tools
PVC film will not tolerate aggressive mechanical stress on its surface. The use of scrapers, spatulas, metal or plastic, is unacceptable, as well as metal and hard sponges. Such handling of the ceiling entails a lot of scratches, small or large, as well as cuts that are very difficult to fix on your own.
Regardless of the cleaning method, wet or dry, for stretch ceilings use the softest sponges or rags with microfiber. Cleaning the canvas is carried out using circular motions, without pressing.
Using a vacuum cleaner
A high power vacuum cleaner can damage the stretch ceiling canvas. The use of this improvised means for dry cleaning is very doubtful, because many write that they need to drive near the ceiling, and not on the coating itself. If you accidentally touch the canvas with a vacuum cleaner brush at high power, then it can break off the fasteners, deform or break.
In addition to all of the above, do not use brushes or rags on sticks, as they are more difficult to control in your hand. It is best to substitute a stepladder, take a soft rag and a warm soapy solution.
