There are two ways to filter water from urban networks: someone relies on it and drinks raw water, while someone does not believe in the power of purification from harmful impurities and pollutants. There are many varieties of jugs and pipe systems on the market today. Is it worth it to install?

Why install filters
There are several positive arguments in favor of installing filters:
- Water in urban water supplies does not undergo thorough treatment. It is filtered only from the most dangerous microorganisms and pollutants. For these purposes, a fairly toxic substance is used - chlorine;
- Typically, utilities care about the quality of the water at the outlet of the treatment plant, rather than the water that flows along the taps of apartment buildings. With a long "journey" through pipes, water most often acquires secondary pollution;
- The main elements contained in water in large quantities adversely affect human health. Salts of calcium and manganese lead to the deposition of salts inside the joints. Manganese in excess inhibits normal functions and the development of the skeletal system. Iron aggravates the health of the liver and reproductive system, and also increases the risk of heart attacks;
- In addition to the body, expensive imported plumbing suffers from untreated water, which does not live long in such conditions. First of all, these are faucets, bathtubs, a jacuzzi and showers. Limescale builds up in the holes and clogs the nozzles. Calcium and magnesium salts form a stable scale at high temperatures. It is because of it that in 90% of cases plumbing failures occur.

Varieties of filters
After understanding why filters are needed and why they protect health, the question arises of which one to purchase. There are fine and rough cleaning systems. The first is focused on the use of water for drinking purposes, the second on the safety of plumbing.

Fine filters trap chlorine, rust, salts of heavy metals. They can be single-function or combine all cleaning methods. In addition, they are divided into woven and mineral. In the first case, a fabric bundle or rope is wound around the cylinder, which traps crystals of chlorine and metal salts. As the material becomes dirty, it changes color; it must either be replaced or cleaned.

The mineralized filter consists of a mesh cylinder filled with mineral chips. Functions are the same as paper ones. There are filters of the latest generation, designed for biological treatment, removing all microorganisms and viruses. But such a drum is inserted only after fine filters.
