Using polyurethane foam is not such a difficult repair task, but even it has nuances that beginners often do not know about. What are the most common mistakes when working with this material?

Incorrect temperature
Foam is divided into several types at the lowest and highest temperatures. Foam application in improper temperature conditions is fraught with ruptured seams, poor adhesion, poor sealing quality, increased consumption of building material. Therefore, it is important to look at the temperature requirements on the foam bottle.

Also, ignoring these requirements entails deformation of the seams or structure.
Cold foam application
The optimum operating temperature of the cylinder with mounting foam when sealing joints should be in the range from +20 to 25 degrees. If you work with cold foam, then its insulating properties drops sharply. At the same time, it is removed from the cylinder not by a volume stream, but by a liquid one. Therefore, in the cold season, the foam bottle must be heated in warm water.

Dry surfaces
Often, before applying the mounting foam, the surface is not wetted, this leads to the loss of all its qualities, deterioration of adhesion and insulating properties. When working in the room it should also be humid, and the walls and joints should be wetted with plenty of water, this is necessary for the proper polymerization of the substance.

Shook the bottle badly
Polyurethane foam has a heterogeneous composition, so with long idle time, the mixture exfoliates. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use. Ignoring this requirement reduces product yield and adhesion.

Incorrect working position
The working position of the foam bottle is upside down. If the orientation is incorrect, not a polyurethane, but a gas propellant will come out of it. In order for all parts of the foam to mix, it is necessary to turn the container.

Wrong amount of foam
Foam, when properly applied, expands well. If the seams are repaired with an excess of material, then during the drying of the foam they can be deformed. The opposite situation occurs when builders regretted the foam, and as a result the seams are half-empty. This is fraught with drafts and heat loss of the building.

Foam damage
If the foam is damaged during its hardening and polymerization, then its structure and insulating properties can be severely damaged. If you start plastering the foam before its secondary expansion, you will have to re-conduct the insulation work.

Unsecured seam
If mounting seams are made outside the structure, but are not covered by sun protection, then the material is very quickly destroyed. The seam is deformed, and the foam crumbles.
