After the autumn harvest is harvested, most summer residents simply close the greenhouse and forget about it until the next season. However, in this way, many simply forget about uncleaned tops, soil that is infected with late blight. With the beginning of the new season, panic begins, the search for funds from the fungus that could kill late blight. But it’s much easier in the fall to carry out the necessary prevention, so you can save yourself from unnecessary headache in the spring.

Briefly about late blight
In a nutshell, late blight or late blight is a fungal disease that most often affects plants in the nightshade family. First, a white coating appears on the leaves, then it spreads to the ovary, the plant dies very quickly, and with it your efforts. The fungus winters on infected roots in the ground, but with the onset of spring it begins its active development. Wet and warm soil is ideal conditions for him.

Sometimes recognition of late blight is very problematic, and plants are affected almost simultaneously. Sometimes it happens that the fungus, if it did not have time to infect the plant itself, will do so with the fruits.

Preparing for the winter
If the greenhouse is made of polycarbonate, then you will not have to dismantle it for wintering. The material is highly resistant to precipitation and cold. In late October, you can begin work on the preparation. Particular attention is paid to removing the upper layer of soil, in its place it is advisable to lay new ground.

Before beginning direct processing, you should remove all twines, wires, ropes and other additional materials. The soil is cleared of plant debris, late blight and wintering. The topsoil is removed, the soil is cultivated, it is dug. The design of the greenhouse is treated with a warm soapy solution.

All metal structural elements are also processed, the metal should be painted after removing traces of rust from it. If a tree is used in the construction, then it is treated with slaked lime solution.

One of the ways to get rid of late blight is to use cuttings of sulfur or sulfur drafts. When fumigating a greenhouse, do not forget about your own safety, eyes should be protected with glasses, rubber gloves should be on your hands, use a respirator or gas mask. If metal surfaces were not painted during fumigation, then corrosion after the procedure may increase.

To achieve the best effect, such actions can be repeated in early spring.
