A white plastic window is beautiful, but not practical. For this reason, some decide to repaint it in a different, less soiled color. There are other reasons for changing the color of plastic frames, for example, interior design features. You can recolor windows in any suitable color both indoors and outdoors.

Preparation of plastic surfaces
The biggest minus of plastic windows is a perfectly smooth surface. Therefore, to ensure good adhesion of the paint to the plastic, it is necessary to prepare it. To do this, clean the window frame from dust, dirt and grease stains. This is done with a sponge and degreasing agent - a special liquid for PVC profile. Tools that contain aggressive chemicals are not recommended, as it may damage the elastic seals. All surfaces are rinsed with clean water, and after drying they are lightly treated with fine sandpaper. The main thing is not to overdo it when using it, and not to leave deep scratches.

Glass protection and primer
Using masking tape, places are glued to which paint is not desirable. First of all, it is glass and rubber seals. You can also close the slopes with tape (if they are not planned to be painted). It is not advisable to use ordinary adhesive tape, because after it hard-to-glue adhesive spots appear on the glass.
The primer for plastic is used special, on an acrylic basis. If this could not be found, a primer for metal is suitable for these purposes. Application of the primer should begin with angles with gentle movements and in one direction. You should get a thin, not spreading layer. When the primer is dry, you can go to the next step.
Primer and paint are applied with a high-quality brush: moderately hard, with a thick, not spilling out bristle. You can also use a small foam or velor roller.

What paint to choose and why
When choosing a coloring composition, attention is drawn to its purpose. For painting plastic windows, a special paint based on acrylic resins, that is, acrylic, has been developed. It is also important that the paint is diluted with water. It does not spread over the surface of the plastic and does not leave stains. Thanks to this, the coloring composition lays evenly, gives an excellent result even when coated in one layer: a bright, uniform and saturated color.
In addition, acrylic paint dries quickly, so you don’t have to stay in a room filled with a pungent chemical odor for a long time. To obtain the desired shade, pigment pastes are used. If it is difficult to figure out which dye and in what quantity to add to the coloring composition, it is better not to do it yourself, and entrust the work to professionals.
Before buying paint, you need to carefully study the label, consult with a sales assistant and be sure to take a check.

Dyeing
Work is carried out under certain conditions. Especially their observance is important if the coloring of the windows is carried out from the outside.
Optimum conditions for painting plastic windows:
• Humidity not less than 50%;
• calm weather;
• Air temperature 20 - 250C above zero (in any case, not below + 50C).
Staining is carried out in the same way as applying the soil: from the corner, in one direction. If you need to apply a second coat of paint, you need to wait until the previous one has completely dried. For this, as a rule, it will take a day. After staining, the window is allowed to dry completely for at least three days.

Instead of a brush and a roller, you can use a spray gun. In this case, you need to carefully tape over all surfaces on which paint should not get. Ideally, it is recommended to remove the double-glazed windows, but not all of them can do it. When using a spray gun, work is always carried out in a respirator. Atomizer parameters: nozzle size 1.6 - 1.8 mm, pressure 2 - 2.5 atmospheres. It is necessary to keep it at right angles to the window frame, without making sudden movements. As with the brush, staining is carried out starting from one of the corners and further along the entire perimeter of the window frame. When this method of painting is applied, applying a single layer is sufficient.
