The French style, which is also called regular, began to emerge in the Renaissance, in Italy. The inspiration for this kind of art has always been architecture, its clarity of forms and the accuracy of straight lines.

The appearance of style in France was facilitated by the campaign of Charles VIII in Italy, where the king first saw the castles of Naples and admired the luxury and beauty of regular parks. After that, the best Italian gardeners and craftsmen were brought to France to work on the design of the gardens in the royal residence.
For a long time, the arrangement of gardens was carried out inappropriately. They tried to create them in areas more suitable for the defense of the castle than for the reproduction of art. There was no harmonious connection between landscape compositions arranged in different parts of the garden, which would combine everything into one whole. The first regular-style gardens in France were significantly different from the style we have an idea of now.

It was the French style of park design that began to take shape in the 17th century. The first such park appeared in the palace of Vaux-le-Viscount. The design and creation of the gardens was done by Andre Lenotrou, a famous French landscape architect. The gardens and the palace were created as a single architectural composition and harmoniously merged into one. The garden was decorated with evergreen shrubs that made up symmetrical geometric patterns. Along the alleys were luxurious sculptures and fountains, as well as trees and shrubs of topography.
The most outstanding example of a regular French-style garden is the Versailles Gardens, which were also designed by Andre Lenotrom.
These were the largest gardens in Europe, covering an area of about 8,000 hectares. They stretched to the horizon and were filled with many luxurious works of art, from graceful statues to small parterres.

Currently, parks in a regular style continue to be popular. The main features of the French style are the need to fill the space only exactly trimmed shrubs or trees, antique sculptures and statues, fountains and other decorations in the spirit royal eras.

Distinctive features are the possible presence of labyrinths, lace stalls, sculptural figures created from trees and bushes.
All vegetation is planted in straight lines and is constantly trimmed to maintain a clear geometric shape and will necessarily form a pattern when viewed from above. In the gardens, separate places for walking can be arranged, ennobled by small groves with the presence of alleys, recreation areas and mirror ponds.

Establishing gardens in a regular style requires a lot of effort and cost. Such gardens are a real work of art. It is important to consider the nuances of implementing the creation of regular parks at the planning stage, as well as clearly disband the landscape plan and distribute to the smallest detail in its places.
