Most owners of suburban areas always have a desire to arrange them original. They strive to ensure that their cottage differs from those nearby, arouse the neighbors, if not envy, then the desire and something similar to do.
There are many ideas, among the simplest - an original bench, moreover, made from improvised materials. The benefit of dry logs around, there is always plenty of lumber left in the country. About this, for those who at least sometimes hold tools in their hands, further.
For a bench you will need a log. It is desirable from oak, ash, and other species, but the former is preferable because of its durability and resistance to weather vagaries. The diameter of the log is 20 - 30 cm if the seat is integral and larger when they plan to make it single; the length depends on the purpose of the future bench. Usually it is not more than 1.5 - 2.0 meters.
Bark is removed from the prepared blanks. If the core is rotten, it is removed by hollowing the wood to unaffected layers. The resulting funnel is ground, resulting in a wave-shaped groove in the upper part of the cut of both halves of the log.

Bench involves support. For the original fit wooden block. They are best made from the same wood species that was used previously. Although the best oak for them you can imagine. Pieces of logs are freed from the bark, polished surfaces and ends.

On the back of the workpieces, closer to the edges, arrange recesses with which they will rely on the supports. The log blocks are slightly pinned from two opposite sides to provide a large contact area with the workpieces at the site of the recesses and the ground at the point of support.

In each of the recesses on the workpieces, 4 through holes are drilled into which metal studs are inserted. Then they are placed (with pins down) on the block-blocks and hit with a sledgehammer from above. Marks will appear on the latter, in which through holes are also drilled, into which free studs will enter during assembly.

Before assembly, the metal studs are removed from the workpieces. They are exchanged for wood, pre-filled in the holes with wood glue.
They are placed on the surface of the support block. The openings within the seats are coated with glue. Lay on top the workpieces of the top of the bench so that the free ends of the studs enter the holes on the supports.

The resulting bench still needs to be finished. The notch (if the top is composite, then the notch) is filled with transparent epoxy. You can previously place dried acorns, colored pebbles inside the recess, which will add more originality to the bench seat.

Then comes the grinding of the seat. In order for the bench to serve for a long time, all its elements are impregnated with a water-repellent composition that protects from rot and insects. Then two layers of varnish.
