- 3 Water supply and sewerage in one trench
When the question arises of bringing centralized water pipes to a private house, the issue of removing sewer pipes is also being addressed. These two communications are difficult to separate, because the points of their installation coincide.

Building codes
There are building codes that govern the laying of communications for mass construction. If we consider the laying of pipes in one trench, then according to SNiP 2.07.01-89, the distance between the sewer and water pipes should not be less than 1.5 m. Moreover, and importantly, this distance should be vertical, that is, the sewer pipe is laid below the water supply by 150 cm. It is allowed to lay these pipes in one plane provided that a wall is installed between them.

These rules are adopted in order to simplify the repair and maintenance of communications. Namely, the distance or wall allows excavation to be carried out by construction equipment, and not manually. Often in mass construction, elements of heating systems and electric networks are laid in the same trench.
Individual development
In private ownership, all SNiPs are conditional, saying a recommendatory character. Namely, there is a project that is drafted in accordance with the rules and regulations. And if during construction there are deviations from the design data, then all responsibility lies with the builder or owner of the building, depending on who made the decision.
In such a situation, there is nothing terrible in laying both pipes in one trench at a distance of less than 150 cm. It is also interesting that with individual development, the sewer pipe is usually laid higher and slightly away from the water supply.
Water supply and sewerage in one trench
We immediately specify that this technology is not recommended for use and is given as a private example:
- One trench with a ledge rummages.
- The upper part is made with a slope of 40 and is allocated for laying sewage.
- The second part of the trench digs below the level of soil freezing.
- A water supply system is laid on the prepared bottom.

Such a laying scheme will protect the water supply from winter freezing and will make it possible to service communications autonomously from each other.
