Short story. Empire style in architecture was born thanks to the work of the French artist Jean Louis David, during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte. The new style was an original combination of classical antique style with the addition of murals and decorative elements in the Egyptian style.

A distinctive feature of the Empire style is the frequent presence of military symbols: decorative weapons, antique armor, richly decorated shields and helmets, as well as flags and coat of arms.
Thanks to its restraint and artistic sophistication, the Empire immediately gained immense popularity in France, spreading throughout Europe and the whole world. Today, the style is far from being so popular, but it is still loved by individual designers who can tastefully bring elements of exquisite antique luxury to even the most ordinary home.

Features of Empire style in interior design
Usually in the Empire style, government buildings and offices are performed to emphasize the special significance of the place and its inhabitant. The visitor of the premises must certainly give the impression of solemnity and grandeur. Not everyone can enjoy such a decadent luxury, so the style is rarely used to decorate residential buildings.
The premises should have a lot of free space and good lighting, so this decoration is only suitable for houses and apartments of the appropriate dimensions. In addition, the Empire style is characterized by a unique combination of restraint and luxury: there should not be any indoors nothing more, all items of furniture and decor should be necessary, but each of them is very expensive and exquisite.

The furniture composition must be selected with special care, because each item must harmonize with each other, be in its place and complement the decor. The luxury of a room should never look pretentious.

Pure warm colors usually prevail in the colors; Empire style lovers give particular preference to pastel shades: beige, peach, champagne or ivory.
Materials must also be selected according to the requirements for the highest quality and cost: these are expensive dense fabrics (in particular, satin and velvet), quality wood and natural stone - granite or marble of various colors. In metal elements, bronze or gilding prevail.
