In winter, the heat from the central heating system is usually not enough, so people have to connect heaters. But most of them spend a lot of electricity, which increases the bill several times. Therefore, people seek in every possible way to reduce costs. One option is to buy a heater that stores electricity.

Principle of operation
Storage heaters are not new on the market for electrical appliances. Their appearance occurred about 25 years ago at the moment when two-tariff meters began to be sold. Now they are widely used in Western Europe.
There is a heating element inside the housing, and the principle of operation is based on air convection. The heating element is surrounded by ceramic magnesite bricks, which have a high heat capacity. Thus, the heater is wrapped in insulating material due to which it is able to accumulate excess thermal energy.

Is there any savings
When installing such a heater paired with two-tariff meters, day / night can be well saved. So, at night, the device is turned on, and it consumes energy at a reduced rate, and during the day it gives it away, but it does not work or works at minimum power.
Heated air enters the room through the operation of a small fan, which drives the flows through the heated bricks. Power heaters from 3 to 9 kW.

They have a built-in and programmable microprocessor, which is able to automatically switch power consumption day and night to the required values. The biggest savings will result if the heater is the only way to heat the room.
Are there more economical options
An electric energy storage device is really cost-effective, but under several conditions: if its power does not exceed 3 kW, it is the only source of heating in the room, a two-tariff is installed in the house counter.
But there are other points, for example, in comparison with other heaters, the drive is more expensive, and its power consumption even at 3 kW is more than other types. And given that this is only the minimum capacity, it is not a fact that the costs with it will be greatly reduced.

An electric convector, which spends from 0.5 to 2.5 kW, can become a more cost-effective purchase. And its cost is usually lower than that of the storage heater.
