Smart sockets: why call a coffee maker or kettle

Smart sockets have long been advertised in the market, but despite this, most consumers know little about them. And he uses even less in his homes.

In fact, this is a socket with a remote control that allows you to turn the device on or off with the touch of a button on the remote control. With such devices, life in the house becomes more convenient and comfortable, however, they cost a lot of money. In the order of experiment, you can, of course, put one such outlet, but it is better when the maximum number of devices is connected to them.

Pros of smart sockets

Using a smart outlet, it is not necessary to immediately jump out of bed in the morning to turn on the kettle or make coffee. It is enough to send a signal from the remote control without crawling out from under the warm blanket. The electric kettle will turn on at the command, and after a few minutes, boiling water will be ready.

Smart can be called a socket with a built-in microprocessor inside. It receives commands from the remote control either directly or at a considerable distance via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a mobile phone (with an additional SIM card).

In the case of a phone, the socket operation algorithm is a little more complicated, but it does not depend on the home Internet. Signals can be sent by sending SMS messages or using the mobile Internet.

The latest developments have the ability to not only turn devices on and off at any time, but also to set the on-time according to a schedule. This function may seem redundant to many, but there are cases when it is very useful:

• In order not to reach the lamp wire every morning and evening, you can set it on and off time;
• For washing machines and dishwashers, it’s convenient to set the time for night operation, when the electricity in the apartments is cheaper;
• The inclusion of the coffee maker can be programmed at 6 or 7 in the morning, so that hot coffee is ready at the right time;
• When leaving home, you no longer need to worry about a forgotten iron: even if it remains on, it will be quietly disconnected from the remote control at any distance;
• The operation of an air conditioner or humidifier is also well programmed using a smart socket: the device will work for several hours at night and will turn itself off.

Of course, in order to feel all the advantages of a smart home, you will need to make not one or two sockets, but at least one in each room. Such devices cost from 1000 to 3000 rubles, depending on the brand and abilities. But for every house or apartment there will always be suitable appliances.
