Laying such a flooring as a laminate is a popular type of work today. Some prefer to work on their own, others hire a team of craftsmen. But in both cases, the question is relevant: how to check whether the laminate is laid in a quality manner?
To be sure of the reliability of the coating in the future, it is worth checking the preparatory phase. Before laying the laminate, the surface should be prepared as follows:
- If the flooring is old, you need to fasten the boards to the logs using self-tapping screws. In this way, you will securely fix the base, which will save the laminate from breaking locks, edges and relieve squeaking;
- If the base is made with a screed, check the process of preparing the mortar and pouring. Before pouring, it is necessary to prime the surface with an acrylic mixture;
- With a “dry” screed, make sure that the backfill is leveled, laid in layers of GVL, there are no gaps between the sheets, and the joints of the layers intersect.
The substrate should also be flat, without overlaps and passes, otherwise the laminate lock that has fallen into this place will simply break.
Observe the laying process - with a well-prepared base, the planks fit perfectly together and move effortlessly.
Take a closer look at the joining places of the laminate boards, there should be no cracks, damage, debris. The boards are tightly adjacent to each other, eliminating the ingress of dirt and moisture between the joints, which will lead to swelling of the laminate flooring and a complete loss of the appearance of the floor.
High-quality installation by the master implies compliance with the installation technique of the laminate, including it must have an indent of 1-1.5 cm along the perimeter of the room in order to prevent damage to the daminate lock, if due to humidity the coating is slightly deformed. Remove the skirting in random order and make sure that the gap is left. Otherwise, insist on remaking the floor completely.
Step on the stacked plank as close to the castle as possible and take a closer look - if it flexes very much, then the base for the laminate was not prepared correctly.
