Bottle - what is it?

This is a cylindrical container with a narrow neck, which can be easily closed with a stopper. It is designed for long-term storage of various liquids, including technical ones.

For non-food filling, the bottle must be made of resistant materials.

Exist different types utensils. Most often they are made of glass. It is environmentally friendly and reliable, especially if it is dark in color. But there are widespread bottles made of polymer materials and even natural raw materials, such as pumpkin.

The path of capacity began in ancient times. The first glassware workshop was found on the territory of modern Egypt. The find is dated to about 1370. BC NS. The shape of the object was then given great importance. She resembled a human figure or a silhouette of a fruit or vegetable.

Around a hundred years before the beginning of the new era, a glass blowing tube appeared in the hands of glass bottle manufacturers. This made it possible to speed up the manufacturing process. Household items were widespread - not just for bottling edible liquids.

In the Roman Empire, bottles differed in shape, but had a single stamp printed on the front wall of the product.

In the 13th century, the art of making bottles was adopted in Europe. Soon Venice became famous for the unique objects created by master glassblowers. And in 1611 another important discovery was made in England - the development of a furnace for firing glass. From that moment on, production began to gain even more momentum in the world.

The first machine for blowing sturdy glass bottles appeared in 1901. The automated ruler helped to put the outlet on stream and make the container a familiar household item.

Types of bottles

Today there are a lot of types of containers. They differ in shape, volume and material from which they are made.

  1. Glass. It is believed to be environmentally friendly, it can be used many times, the drink is stored in it longer and has a rich taste.
  2. Plastic. Widespread material. Cheap to manufacture and safe to use.

Introducing a bottle, we think about alcoholic beverages. Here the variety of forms and types is very large:

  • for champagne - a streamlined glass container with a long narrow neck;
  • Rhine - an elongated product, devoid of "shoulders", made of thin glass;
  • Burgundy - with a wide base and sloping "shoulders", it seems solid, in demand all over the world;
  • Bordeaux - a large bottle of thick glass with pronounced "shoulders", has a low, unexpectedly narrow neck;
  • English - a small "pot-bellied" bottle with a thin and often curly neck.

Most of them are made of colored glass.

What are they used for

Bottles are used for food and non-food liquids. Among the goods for consumption we constantly find milk, kefir, fermented baked milk in plastic containers, as well as condensed milk and various cocktails, yoghurts.

Alcoholic beverages are usually presented in colored or transparent glass bottles. The shapes and sizes of containers on the counters are amazing. Carbonated drinks and mineral water, as a rule, are presented in larger plastic containers.

For technical liquids, less often, but glass containers are used. Bottles are sometimes used in home brewing.
