Many of us store knives in a special wooden stand that usually comes with the cutlery. However, this method has long been outdated and even considered unsafe. Let's figure out why it is worth abandoning such storage and choose a good alternative.

Why can't knives be stored in a wooden stand?

First, keeping the knives in such stands is likely to dull the blades of the cutlery. Second, they can also be a breeding ground for yeast, mold, and other microbes.

The fact is that after washing, few of us wipe the devices dry. And when we insert them into the holes, moisture provokes the development of not the most favorable consequences. In narrow cracks, bacteria are "born" and multiply very quickly, which then (upon contact knives with food) very safely move into our body and begin to create their dirty tricks. However, it is not advisable to place such storage in an accessible place if there are small children or playful pets in the house. In addition, strong magnets can still damage the blades of your knives over time.

This storage option is similar in type to the previous one. The only difference is that it will be a stand, not a rail on the wall, that is, you have to find a place on the table. However, storage looks very attractive and stylish.

The disadvantages are the same - easy access for children and animals.

Separate drawer

If you have a lot of knives, then it is better to find a separate box for them and install a special tray there. This option is easy to implement at the stage of planning the repair and replacement of the kitchen unit, which cannot be said about the situation when all the shelves are already occupied by other kitchen utensils. Of course, you can reconsider the organization of the space and allocate a separate place for the knives.

Such storage looks very original in the kitchen, especially when the filler is painted in a bright color, it does not will only help to decorate the room, but will also provide careful storage of knives and scissors, which will significantly extend their life service.
