Both the decanter and the jug are vessels that are used to store and serve various drinks. But this is where the common features end, because even in appearance it is immediately noticeable that these dishes are completely different.

A decanter and a jug - what are the differences?
They are primarily in the design.
Manufacturing material
Decanters, as a rule, there are either glass or crystal. However, in stores you can find single copies - porcelain or clay, but such options are usually used not for their intended purpose, but as a decor or souvenir.
For the manufacture of jugs, clay, plastic, metal, porcelain are used.

Form and features
The decanter is sometimes quite bizarre in appearance, but, in fact, the design of this vessel is always recognizable. It usually resembles a bottle. The lower part is quite wide (there is liquid), and the upper one is a narrow neck. The presence of a traffic jam is a prerequisite. And also it almost never has a nose and a pen.
Jug by its design, it looks more like a kettle. This is a rather "pot-bellied" vessel, but in it the neck can also have a narrowing, although not as sharp as that of a decanter. Mandatory parts of the jug are a spout (for easy pouring) and a handle. The cover is at the request of the manufacturer (this is not essential).
Color, decoration
Decor is another main difference between these two vessels.
Decanters, as a rule, are transparent, and therefore their design is specific. Rarely are drawings or prints applied to them. Usually it is engraving, carved ornaments and edges, varnishing. In some cases, in order to make the product aesthetically pleasing, silver cutouts are applied to it, which makes the product more solid, but also increases its value, and significantly.
Pitchers can be decorated in different ways. Often this is a monochromatic base, which is painted with simple drawings, ornaments, stripes, flowers.
Appointment
It is worth noting that both the decanter and the jug are vessels for storing, serving and pouring liquids. Here are just drinks and in this case will be different.
Decanters are mostly intended for alcoholic beverages, often spirits. This is cognac, whiskey, vodka, rum, but also wine, liqueurs, liqueur, various tinctures, and even water, fruit drink.
Simpler liquids are poured into a jug, non-alcoholic ones - water, juices, milk, compote. It is unlikely that you will find somewhere to serve wine, and even more so vodka. Sometimes it can be used for storing cereals, jam, honey, flour, but here it is important that the product is earthenware.
