The unique project made it possible to organize three functional zones in a limited area of 22 square meters - a dining room, a living room and a kitchen. It was not easy to do this, because the room should be used comfortably by four family members.

However, designer Mikhail coped with the task brilliantly and was able to create another recreation area. For this, a redevelopment was carried out, and the balcony was attached to the living area. Customer
The clients were a family of five. A married couple with two children and a grandfather live in the apartment. For some time they lived in the apartment without making any major changes. At a certain point, the family decided that it was time to transform the house. We began the arrangement by contacting the Housing Issue program, which is engaged in the reconstruction of premises. The initial task was determined by the design of the main room in the house - the kitchen-living room.
The wife travels a lot, has impeccable taste, and enjoys the cultural life of various countries. It is not surprising that she wanted to get an aesthetically perfect result, for this she used the most daring and incredible possibilities. It is very interesting to work with such customers, because you get a lot of creativity. On the other hand, the task was complicated by the fact that in a short time it was necessary to find out and determine the needs of the family. And the requirements were very high.
Tasks and wishes
The room, the style of which was to be worked on, was a rectangular room with an area of 16 square meters, with a balcony. This is a favorite gathering place for the whole family for communication and relaxation. It was important to create an atmosphere of comfort, while adhering rather to such directions as minimalism, loft or high tech. For the decoration, a rich, bright color scheme and expressive textures were used. The functionality of the kitchen is thought out to the smallest detail, while the room has a number of distinctive features.
A lover of modern gadgets, the owner dreamed of seeing a working “Smart Home” system in his house. And the hostess wanted the work surface to end with an island by the window. The family agreed that there must be a fireplace in the kitchen. The ideas were such as to visually expand the space even more, this was facilitated by the love of family members for mirror surfaces. The main concept, which was adhered to in the design of this kitchen-living room, included all the wishes.
Layout
The difficulty was that it was technically impossible to completely eliminate the wall between the balcony and the living space. We limited ourselves to removing the double-glazed window. The result was a room divided by a wide wall into two parts, the smaller of which had a complex shape. Designing a corridor format is always inconvenient. On the other hand, the designer was faced with the problem of justifying the presence of silhouettes of window openings. An unusual planning decision is largely due to the influence of these factors.
Storage
The working part of the kitchen is located along the end wall. Since the ceiling in this part of the room is lowered, it turned out that the kitchen settled down, as it were, in a niche. On the opposite side is the living area. It is equipped with modular furniture. It houses a media center, built-in TV and storage system. There are shelves in one line next to the fireplace area, they are placed along the end walls, which allows you to visually make the room more square.
Color
The project organically combines clearly marked planes and lines, they made it possible to technically organize the space. The play of volumes allows you to support not only pieces of furniture and wall elements, but also a combination of different textures. Therefore, decorative plaster with a concrete-like texture was chosen as finishing materials; it is present on almost all surfaces of the room.
Non-standard furniture panels with graphic milling used for wall and ceiling decoration, black slate, smoky glass and mirrors, elements of rough wood with a "sawn oak" texture brought a bit of extravagance into the interior and charm. The mere use of mirrors and reflective surfaces has already made it possible to create a visually lighter and more airy space.
Smart solution
A media center is installed in the living room area, with the help of it you can not only control the "Smart Home" system, turn on / off the light, but also perform a number of other manipulations. The media center is an interactive tablet table. Unlike conventional gadgets, this device has a powerful platform and a large display, it was created to order, and in terms of functionality it can compete even with a full-fledged computer.
With this system, you can implement any game and work functions. It can be used like a regular coffee table. It is possible to display information from the interactive table on TV and any gadgets, for this you need an Internet connection. You can make the background screensaver information from your device, a clock widget, a stock price, or a weather forecast.
Furniture
Opposite the entrance, in the former window opening, there is a biofireplace enclosed in glass; it can be seen from both sides. This helped to achieve the illusion that the remainder of the wall is a specially created niche for the fireplace. There is a free zone behind this window, which is organized as a chill-out. Here family members can relax comfortably while enjoying the views of the city's landscapes. The balcony block has been successfully converted from a peninsula, which is used as a bar counter, so it was possible to hide its true purpose.
The choice of the kitchen set took a long time and carefully, it was difficult to choose the option that best corresponded to the aesthetic idea of the room. There were several options, but it was not possible to purchase ready-made furniture with a laminated surface and with a texture suitable for the overall interior. And not a single manufacturer agreed to engage in the manufacture of facades, making complex manipulations of painting veneered material or solid wood. These works, even within the framework of an individual order, are quite long and difficult to perform.
As a result, a company was found that is engaged in the production of furniture, while applying the new generation of laminating. She manufactures facades exactly in the form that was required for use within the framework of this project. The issue has been resolved, the furniture looks very natural and beautiful.
Difficulties
Naturally, such a complex and rich in various elements project could not be created quickly and without excesses. Many initial ideas had to be corrected in the course of the action, and some were simply abandoned. Take, for example, the window-sill block, which was originally planned to be completely dismantled.
It was not possible to do this, and the designer was forced to modernize the project, make changes taking into account the available possibilities. It is impossible to radically change the work plan that has already been launched. Therefore, in place of the remnant of the wall, a peninsula grew, on which a biofireplace was successfully located.
During the implementation of the project, it was planned to create, along with an interactive table, an integrated TV with touch control. This option had to be abandoned, since the budget did not allow the idea to be realized. And the functionality of this product was somewhat vague, especially considering the presence of a tablet interactive table.
