Why do you need a heater? Ballu heater, purpose, design / appearance
A heater is a device for heating a room. There are many types of heaters. They are classified according to the principle of operation, the method of heating, the fuel used and so on.
The Ballu heater is intended for heating the air in domestic premises. The device is not suitable for professional/large premises.
Appearance of the heater:
- Frame
- Air intake and exhaust grilles
- convection chamber
- Casters/set of feet for floor mounting/set of brackets for wall mounting
- Control Panel
- Plug and electric cable
The control panel differs from the instrument model. There are devices with a mechanical and electronic control panel.
The mechanical control panel consists of a temperature controller (rotary wheel) and a drawn scale (the temperature value in it is shown by the stripes around the regulator: the thicker the strip, the more temperature).
The electrical control box consists of:
- Buttons for starting and shutting down the device
- Operating mode selection buttons
- Power selection buttons (full and half power)
- Two buttons to decrease/increase temperature or timer time
- Screen
Ballu heater operating modes and their designations
Before that, it should be noted that the modes are available only in models with an electronic control panel.
Modes:
- The sun is the standard operating mode, the factory air heating temperature is 24 degrees Celsius.
- Crescent - saving, the device saves energy by turning off unnecessary functions and maintaining the temperature 4 degrees lower than in standard mode.
- Snowflake - work at low temperatures, the heating of the device from the inside is additionally turned on so that the elements do not freeze. The air heating temperature is 5 degrees Celsius.
Other designations on the LED-display of the heater:
- Numbers - temperature, timer hours. In the standard operating mode, the device displays the air temperature in the room.
- Rectangles - the power of the device: two rectangles - the device operates at full power, one - at half power.
- Clock - the self-off timer is enabled.
- Dotted square – the Parental Control function is enabled.
The principle of operation of an electric heater
Ballu electric heaters work on the principle of natural convection. The whole room is filled with air of different temperatures - hot on top, cold on the bottom. The natural movement of air due to temperature differences is called convection. Cold air accumulates near the floor, where it is sucked in by the heater (there is no fan, the air itself enters the air intake grilles). Inside, the air is affected by a heating element - a tubular electric heater. This is a metal tube, inside of which there is a conductive thread and a non-conductive material. Electricity is applied to the thread, from this it heats up. Heat from it is transferred to a metal tube, and from it to the air inside the device. At the same time, electricity remains in the thread, it is not allowed to pass through the special material with which the tube is filled. The heated air itself rises and leaves the air outlet grilles into the room. He rises to the ceiling, giving off heat to the objects of the room and lowering the cooled air down. The cycle is repeated.
Ballu Electric Heater Instructions for Use
Before using the heater:
Remove the device from the package/box and remove the protective film and colored stickers from it. Otherwise, they may catch fire when using the heater. Install the unit - screw on the wheels/legs or mount the unit into the wall using bolts and brackets. Connect the plug of the appliance to the mains.
Recommendation: do not connect other high consumption appliances to the same outlet/extension cord along with the heater. In terms of power, the socket can withstand it, but too much current will heat up the metal elements and melt the plastic. The result will be a short circuit.
How to use a heater with a mechanical control unit:
- Plug the device into a socket
- Select the operating mode (device power)
- Turn the knob to set the desired temperature
To turn off the appliance, turn the knob to the left to the minimum setting and remove the plug from the socket.
Ballu heaters have a function of maintaining a certain temperature. When it is turned on, the device turns on and off by itself to maintain the selected air temperature in the room.
To enable this function, put the device in the maximum power mode, then turn the knob thermostat all the way to the right, and when the temperature becomes comfortable for you, turn the same knob to the left until clicks.
Operation of Ballu electronic heaters:
- Plug the appliance into a socket.
- Press the on/off button (bottom right).
- Select full or half power (lower left).
- Select the operating mode, press the lower central button (there are three modes to choose from, their characteristics and designations are written above in the “Ballu Heater Modes” section). To save the mode, do not press anything for 5 seconds.
- Select the air heating temperature - use the upper adjustment buttons for this, the temperature value is displayed on the screen. You can also use the factory default settings.
To turn off the device, hold down the on/off button for a few seconds. After that, unplug the device from the socket.
Additional differences between electric models are the self-shutoff timer function and Parental Control.
To set the timer, press the heater start button twice. Use the temperature adjustment buttons to change the time after which the appliance will turn itself off. The time on the display is shown in hours, it is possible to set a timer from 1 to 24 hours. To save the settings, do not press anything for 5 seconds. After that, the clock icon will light up on the display. After the set time, the device will turn off.
Parental control blocks the instrument control panel. To turn it on, hold both temperature control buttons for 5 seconds. A dotted square icon will appear on the screen - this means that Parental Control is enabled. To disable the feature, repeat the steps.
