However, upgrading with your own hands is not as difficult as it seems at first glance.

Why do you need a soft start?

If the warranty for your tool has long ended, you can make your own adjustments, especially since they will not take up much space. A microcircuit, which is assembled from only 5–6 modules, is a small object resembling a box of matches in size.

It is inserted directly into the handle of the miter saw and provides a smooth start of electric current to the system. Ready-made microcircuits are already on sale, you do not have to do self-assembly.

With miter saws, slow start is extremely important for several reasons:

1. A powerful engine that starts up leads to serious surges in the power grid. This adversely affects the power tool and wiring.
2. The brushes wear off quickly without the soft start function on miter saws.
3. Slow start reduces shock loads in the mechanical part of the instrument at the time of start. This increases the life of the tool and ensures its safety.

How to do it yourself?

You can assemble a microcircuit according to available drawings from the network, but in this case you will have to work hard to buy the necessary modules, because they need to be purchased clearly at the indicated face value. It is much easier to buy a ready-made microcircuit, which is “implanted” into a power tool.

The easiest way to install a soft starter is to embed the module in an extension block. Let's tell you step by step how to do it:

• we disassemble the body of the extension cord, giving access to important wires;
• we connect the block to the break of one of the wires using a reliable twist;
• glue the block at a distance from the contact group inside the extension housing;
• we assemble the case with reliable fixation of the wires, preventing them from twisting and crossing.

Any intervention in electrical circuits must be carried out by a master who has the necessary knowledge of safety and has had experience with electrical wires and systems.
